They work well!

 

They work great just make sure to keep it moving and don’t hold it in one spot to long. You can very easily burn up the clear coat. I can attest to that.

 

^^ - Both posts are "spot on". I just used it last week to remove my TRD and pinstripe decals.

I've used the 3M eraser wheel on trucks and boats and it has worked well. Some times you need to use some thinner to help loosen up the left over residue but take your time and keep moving it around at different angles.

 

Right on. I used Turtle Bug and Tag remover to clean up the residue.

 

And how long did that take?? Looks good!

 

I did it over two days due to the rain interfering. But not more than an hour total per side I would work it for 10-15 minutes, then let the drill and me cool off between sections.

I unsuccessfully tried a couple of approached before I got out the drill and the eraser wheel. I tried Bug and Tar remover with a plastic razor blade scraper. Then I tried the 3m adhesive remover with a plastic scraper. No luck. Then I tried a heat gun. The heat gun worked but it was slow and left the small pinstripe. To get the paint hot enough to release the stripe, it would melt the plastic scraper blade. I cleaned one fender using that approach. It was taking longer than I wanted to invest, so I brought out the wheel and wrapped up the job on short order.

Now I do have some difference in paint shade under the area that was covered by the old decals. The gold paint surface faded over the years. So the old decal area is a richer shade of gold. That's not a problem, because I already received a new TRD decal and plan to change the pinstripe to black in the near future. The fading is normal when removing a 20-year-old pinstripe.
