best 1/2 ton out there

im looking at getting a small fleet of work trucks, whats your pick

 

the new f150's are solid trucks. i was driving for a couple hours hauling a tent trailer. it had the 4.6L v8 and even at highway speeds, towing a trailer and full of camping gear, i could pull out and pass people no problem. if i didnt have a tacoma, i'd have one of those!

 

I used to drive a F150 pickup for a work truck at this company. Had the ladder rack, ect. Great on gas with the 4.6 v8. I then got a chevy 1500 utility truck. Man that thing was a pig on gas!

 

I like the f150. I'm waiting to see how the 5.0 is going to fair in the full size truck

I like the chevys but Im not going to vote because I dont know enough about the competition

 

For a fleet of "work trucks" I would go F150. You can order them with 3,000 pounds payload in a longbed model. That alone suggests to me that the rest of the truck is built pretty heavy duty. And the 4.6 liter is a tough motor. My uncle is a mechanic for a limo service, they have a super stretch lincoln with 185K on it, and a standard towncar with almost 500k on it. Both have original engines in them. The super stretch was severely overheated this summer climbing up a 10,000 foot pass with ten people in it, the engine still runs perfect, no blown headgaskets. Just needed a radiator put in it.

 

Stay away from the GM, i traded my 09 GMC 1500 with the 4.8 ltr for the Taco. I was only getting 12 MPG at the very best. I loved the ride but couldent afford to drive it.

 

I wouldn't buy any new American made vehicle unless it was a Ford.

 

Tundra. Why fuck with perfection?

 

Tundra(my vote) or dodge (I say dodge cause I like the look)

 

You could not force me to take a Chevy even as a gift.

Owned 2 F150s and 2 Rams - I would gladly own either one again.

 

If I was going fullsize, I would go Diesel & that would take me to the 3/4 ton F250... If I was staying with gasoline engine 1/2 ton it would be the Tundra hands down!

 

I'd have to go with the Dodge

 

being a past nissan titan owner, i would do it again..................... or the tundra..........however best work trucks on the market is ford. u get the most options offered for work and of course > those pigs are tuned for reliability......

 

F-150. Not quite as reliable as Tundra, but still well above average and with a stiffer frame.

Tundra's plenty tough with capacities in all the right areas, and the 5.7L is the best fullsize motor available, but the frame has a bit more flex. Rides better, but a bit more body when handling loads.

Wait for the new motors from Ford though. The current 4.6L and 5.4L are durable and proven, if gutless. Once the new engines come through, you can probably snap up a pile of 4.6L powered stripper work trucks that will last forever even if they're boring to drive.

Dodge is shit unless you go with their Cummins powered HD units. Chevy/GMC isn't much better, although I'd still take them over a Dodge in a heartbeat.

 

here in the field we drive either f150 or silverado 1500. i prefer the silverado. i have just had bad experiences with the ford

 

I just turned in a rental vehicle which I drove for 2 1/2 weeks and put over 1k miles on it (regular miles for me sadly). After driving that Chevy 1500 4dr - I'll beat the next person that tries to put me in another Chevy. It was a gas hog, under powered for driving in lots of hills, and manuvered like a school bus. Needless to say - I was extremely happy to get back into my Tacoma. My choice in a full size 1/2 ton - the Ford F-150 by a mile. I know three people with them - all of them use their truck like a serious truck should be used, and all three of them love them. One guy was a Chevy diehard that couldn't stomach another one after the latest update, the other guy was "whatever fits the magic number first", and the last guy was a Ford guy to start.

 

I voted for the f150 because as far as for work trucks go you cant beat the ford full size trucks

 

You wouldn't buy a new Tacoma or Tundra?
