I have another tent you can buy to keep on your truck so you have 2 options.

word the price is up there. I love the size of it opened up but that price would be tough. Can buy the more rugged lifted tent trailers for that cost.

I like the idea of a trailer for basecamp purposes, but I don't like the 55mph speed limit for towing in CA since 70 feels like I'm crawling and 75 is my cozy speed

I do 60-70 on my speedo. But the 35s are off by about 7-8mph.

I don't go faster than that

Nobody, but I try to avoid having to interact with the popo like the plague...adding another 10mph+ to how much I'm already speeding is not ideal on that front lol

I will have it on by the weekend and let you guys know how my setup will work. I have some ideas on not using them at all but I will have to make sure before I can part with them. If I can then I can ship them out asap.

Thought it might be cool to post my prototype softopper compatible RTT bedrack in here!

When the weather clears, it'll be painted and then my CVT will be mounted!

More details on the rack HERE

    Yeah.
Sure enough, as soon as I mention that I might need a replacement cover for my RTT soon, the zipper started pulling out last weekend when setting up camp. Looks like all 4 corners are about to go, 6 years of the elements have tattered the threads holding it on.

Other than the zipper, the cover is in great shape, although I did order a replacement. I plan to repair the zipper so I have a spare cover, just in case. At the same time, I'm considering doing some kind of protection/reinforcement on the corners of the new cover. Anyone do any kind of reinforcement on the corners? Seems that is where it is under the most stress.

Maybe just need to be more religious about applying Formula 303 . . .

Forgive me if this topic is already within these 929 pages and the search didn’t help me but, anyone here running a Smittybuilt XL on a 3rd gen DCSB. Just found a brand new one for $600 but worried about the overhang. :(
    Thanks.

Still 48” wide? It’ll be fine. My buddy has a CVT that’s 48” wide and it overhangs the rack like 1.5” either side.

Disregard. Thought I read 3rd gen runner. My bad.

No biggie! Nah I’m talking about the 76” long. I think it’s gonna hang 16” over the tailgate which is not cool.

I have the 23zero 72 in one which makes the outside like 74 i think but i have a full Prinsu cab and top rack and i just put mine over the cab. It looks really bad if you cant put it over your cab though. Thats the only reason i put the camper shell back on. I dont think i would risk that much over hang but i know people do it and its fine.

I bought a '19 TRD Pro that gets built this week. Currently my tent is on my VW Golf Sportwagen, but I'll be moving that over to the truck when it gets here. I'm not seeing a lot of tents on caps here, but I'm seeing a ton of tents on raised bed rails. Putting a tent on raised bed rails seems less useful than putting them on a cap. Are most putting them on rails for looks? Or is there some disadvantage of using a cap I'm not aware of. Other than cost, I'm not seeing why someone would choose rails over a cap. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong.
