Added in a wiring harness, mostly for future upgrades but I wanted to get the wire ran while I had the time. It has weatherpack connectors for future Baja S2's mounted in the rear bumper and a trigger wire connected to the reverse lights. It also has a diode set up to allow me to turn on the bed lights from a push button in the bed or from the Switchpro 9100 (also a future install). The push button bed lights should be installed and working next weekend, the rest when I purchase the 9100/Baja S2's.

Putting LEDs or HIDs in halogen-designed housings is the easiest way to earn official douchebag status. Most superduty and heavy duty truck owners are grotesquely guilty of this.

 

Never been flashed in over a year of running Hikari LED in my highs and lows. Cutoff and visibility is excellent.

I just disagree with the scattered beam hype about every single LED. I did have that issue in another vehicle, which I promptly removed, but not with this Tacoma. If so I would have gladly returned them and gone back to halogen bulbs. I did have a useless attempt using LED bulbs in my oem fogs.

 

Put a bug/rock deflector on the Taco today. Went with one that uses existing holes that are under the hood to mount. I wanted to avoid getting one that uses 3m tape. Literally put it on a few minutes ago so the verdict is still out. Took 5 minutes to install. Also the company logo is small and blacked out so it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb.

Not sure how that's funny but whatever floats your boat my dude. I wanted to mount a bug deflector that would allow me to remove it easily to clean off bug guts and grime.

Those damn flies. Every year we do the docks at my buddies house and a few of his neighbors in the ADK, we get eaten alive.

 

Got my solar panel mounted. Mount uses existing tonneau cover bolt holes. Mount comes on and off in under a minute. It's my daily driver so all adventuring stuff I want easy on easy off. Still need to make it pretty but below are pics of the test fit.

 

Found the fuel pump controller occupying the same spot on the frame as one of my slider legs, so I fabricated a bracket to relocate it:



I made the bracket from a 6"x6" "carport saddle" found at Home Depot. It comes zinc plated; I will paint it black when I paint my sliders.

 

Installed an additional trans cooler today.
After taking my Taco from Jersey to Florida & back, I realized that I don't like the excessive heat from the 6 speed.
My brother's FJ doesn't heat up even while towing & he has almost 180k. (No repairs only maintenance)
There's a lot of speculation about what engineers envisioned & why we shouldn't circumvent their design.
Heat destroys transmissions.
Personally speaking, these engineers don't really want our 3rd gen Tacos surpassing 180k.

Not the prettiest install but it's rock solid, drilled into plastic & it allows space for some future projects.

 

I added the CAI too ... it’s a subtle improvement and not really noticeable until WOT and then it’s got a really nice tone.
