Help wanted to install some OME Dakar leaf springs on my 2001 Tacoma. Already purchased them thinking they will work now I am reading threads they won't with the shocks. I already have new bilstein 4600 will this work with these shocks? Or will it over extend the shocks? Also do I need an extended break line? My current leaf springs are shot and curving down in the front. Not an offroading truck so won't be flexing. Also from Hawaii so getting anything shipped here is insanely expensive and hard.

I wouldn't use 4600s with the Dakars. My 2 cents, pair the Dakars with OME Nitrochargers. If not Nitrochargers, then Bilstein 5100s. Since the 4600s are new, you might be able to craigslist or facebook marketplace them and try to recoup some of the funds.

You'll find this thread has a ton of info on OME setups and our trucks -
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/old-man-emu-setups-on-1st-gen.141055/

As for install, @Sebz13 might have some input since he's in your region. Should also check out your regional section here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/hawaii.90/

You should be able to get away without the extended brake line if you aren't going to be off-road at all and no flexing. I recall a comparison somewhere and literally the difference was negligible. Hell, you might even be able to get away with the 4600s but seriously, I wouldn't chance it lol.

Don't forget the bushings SB89 for stock shackles, or SB88 for OME shackles; each package is for 1 leaf spring so you'll need 2 packs.

If I were you, I'd hold off from installing the leaf springs and either buy OME nitrochargers or Bilstein 5100's all around as suggested.

With stock suspension up front, and OME Dakar's in the back, you'll have a ton of rake. Some of it is good, to handle a payload, but you don't want a lot.

Thank you. Yea we might just chance it wanted to see if anyone else has done this set up. We will see. Couldn't find any OME that ship to Hawaii without a $600 shipping charge. We have 4600 all around, got new OME coils, shackles and OME Ubolts. Maybe we will remove a leaf and see how that affects it. The hard part about living here is shipping stuff is super limited and if it ships the cost for shipping is insane.

Yea my husband agrees with you guys better to upgrade the shocks and sell the Bilsteins we have. Also is there a better Bilstein for these leaf springs? We also have the OME 881 coils in front. Thanks again

I just replaced my suspension with a similar setup, I have Dakar leaf springs in the rear and 881s up front. I used these shocks:

    Front: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CK0LFME/
    Rear: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CK0LG8M/

Did a fair bit of research, and Amazon ended up being the cheapest once shipping was considered.

Since you have the 881s and dakars, if the cost is within reach - i'd go with OME Nitrochargers.

EDIT: Then again, you did mention not wheeling it at all so the 5100s make more sense from a price point.

We live on Big Island. Shipping stuff here can be such a pain. Awesome thanks we are going to go with the 5100s I think. Does anyone have the B110 or the 5125?

I think mine are 5 leaf total. Provided about 2" lift but i wanted it more for the load. I broke a set of Wheelers "3 pack" stock replacements a couple of years after installing them so wanted more load capability. If your going 7 leaf then the shocks i listed may not work although i am very happy with the 5100 series.

Don't forget you should also extend your rear brake line with a rear lift. The rear brake line kit is only like $40 or something like that, pretty easy to install.

If you don't plan on offroading you'll likely be fine but if you do go wheeling, you're going to want to extend that brake line. edit- never mind I see someone already mentioned it

I got away without a longer rear brake line for over a year even while offroading every weekend, but one day I got out and looked under my truck while it was flexed out and saw the brake line was pulled tight...went home and bought an extended one that day.

Icon 2.0s...I have them with the remote reserviors but they sell them without resis for less $, think theyre about $300 for a set without resis. They can accommodate 0 - 3" of lift

I think Bilstein sells a brand of 5100s that are extended to accommodate more rear lift, but don't quote me on that. I had regular 5100s in the rear for awhile with my setup and they never leaked or got destroyed, but they were definitely maxed out at times.
