    I am going to do the rear diff breather mod... since I have done the deep water and have contaminated the rear diff. Not so sure I want to give up 4WD and just use 2 tires in back, however... LOL

    Yeah no shit huh David , :D:D 51/50 is more like it & Hell no I'm not giving up my 4WD, just now I can use my elocker in 2wd, 4H & of course 4Lo . Before as you know with 1st gens you're limited to using locker in 4 Lo only unless you do the Mod, I'm doing the Deck plate thing today sometime, since I'm not working might as well start mutilating my truck....:devil::devil::eek:

    Yah, it is critical for the long life of your rear diff.

    I was in deep, muddy water only a minute or two on our Mision Santa Maria trip, but when the techs (Toyota Carlsbad) changed my diff. fluid afterwards, they reported it contaminated...

    Yes, us 2nd Gen. Tacos also need to be in L4 for the rear diff. to lock. Our mod to get the locker to work in H2 and H4 is not the gray wire mod... It requires a relay installed. Something to consider for 2005-2008 Tacos.

    I think it is not at all needed for 2009 and newer Off Road TRDs because we have H4 TRACTION CONTROL, and H2 AUTO LSD for a 'posi traction' effect on the rear (power to both and not just the spinning tire). If you need more traction, then we have A-TRAC for front and rear 'locker' effect.
