Lately it seems it takes me multiple tries (button clicks) to lock my truck using the key fob, even at close range. I changed the key battery and still have the same problem. Does cold weather have anything to do with keyless lock/unlock efficiency? It's been around 40° in the mornings here in Dallas which is much warmer than other parts of the country. You would think the key would be made to work just fine in these sort of conditions.

I left my key in the truck in -30° nearly overnight. The problem is with your key or the receiver in the truck .You should take it in if it's bothering you .Have you tried the spare .

It was 28 degrees in Shreveport this morning when I left for work. No issues with the door or fob and the truck was covered with ice. I did get the PCS warning light but that because ice on the sensor, it actually went away halfway to work.

I am having the same issues. Toyota (not the Dealer) keeps pointing to other issues not related. They blame the backup camera even though its not attached. This is my third trip to the dealer to address. Any insights?

Mine is a manual with an old school key. Not possible. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just to update this thread in case someone that comes along and needs help. My issue is still not resolved. The Toyota Dealer has had my truck for four days now and has escalated the issue all the way to Toyota to schedule a Corporate expert to come out and diagnose the issue.

The issue. My key fob for my manual 2019 Off Road Tacoma does not consistently work. It works about 20% of the time if at all.

Just to give a rundown. My 19 Taco has 7500 miles on it. It is not even three months old. The key fob issues started the first week after delivery. The truck has been at the dealer three times now. At the request of Toyota and Dealer I have removed the ham radio, antenna and wiring completely from the truck. Toyota (not the Dealer) even thought perhaps the Dealer installed window tint was causing the issue. The Dealer techs have removed the door remote sensor unit that is installed in the headliner. They have checked/replaced the ECU. They have run diagnostics through the wiring. All of these have yet to resolve the issue. The Dealer is now waiting to hear from Toyota when their Guru Tech will be scheduled to check for themselves.

I will update when this is resolved.

UPDATE and RESOLVED - So the Dealer escalated to Toyota who after a number of weeks of waiting sent out one of the specialists. What they discovered is that the Headlight Revolution interior light that I installed was causing the interference. It was the rear light and not the front map lights to be exact causing the issue. The light gets used often as my son does a lot of reading in the back seat. So problem solved sort of.

I have reached out to Headlight Revolution and still have not received a call back from them. They have left many excuses on their FB page why they have not bothered to call back. Hate to say that I am a little irritated that I cannot resolve it. So I would check any of your LED or aftermarket items installed.

Thanks for the update. It’s unfortunate how sensitive the electronics are in these new vehicles. EMF/R noise, change in resistance on a circuit, etc all can but not necessarily will cause intermittent issues.

The aftermarket companies that make this junk don’t seem to adequately test their designs. I think the only reliable way to add components to the electrical system is with an auxiliary fuse box and separate wiring. Don’t change or add anything to factory wiring, especially on a computer driven (pretty much all of them) circuit.

I’m glad you got your issue fixed. War Eagle

Yes, I thought Headlight Revolution was a decent company to to work with. I did a good amount of research before purchasing them. I am a Ham radio operator and understand how RF interference can mess with electronics. I tried to put a small RF choke in the light but there is just not enough room. I have yet to take it out either as the OEM lights are just too dim. WDE!

I wish I had seen this thread sooner. I just noticed it and immediately thought of the same issue I had a few months ago. I posted about it, and it took me a couple of weeks to find out what was going on. I posted an update on my thread, but that thread is long buried by now:

Geeze I wish that I had seen your thread too. I would have solved three visits to the dealer. Did you get resolution or reach out to Headlight Revolution?

They tried to resolve it by sending me other LEDs, but none of them fit. I eventually returned the whole kit to them and got a refund. They really should have done something about it for future customers, such as making a note on the product description, or removed the dome light from the kit. I have very little respect left for Headlight Revolution after my overall experience with them. I bought map and dome lights from MESO Customs, and am very happy with them!

Another interesting thing on this... I took the truck to the dealer (Toyota Santa Monica) when it had the problem, hoping they could solve it. The service manager looked at it with me, and said that he didn't think anything was wrong, as it worked sometimes :annoyed:

Very glad to see this resolved. Thank you for the troubles you went through. I also have LED replacement dome lights (not Headlight Revolution though) so I suspect that is my issue as well.

I'm curious if the MESO dome light has or can cause this issue?

Yeah. The fourth trip were preceded by the Dealer telling me it was something I had on my truck. Then the same "Well it works sometimes" so it OK. Frustrating to say the least.

I have no light upgrades. My darn remote does this all the time. I usually hold the darn button down till it finally locks.

Is there anything electronic you have changed in the truck?
