Its easy to get spoiled here in that regard. The trouble is, I find myself driving all over the goddamn state for cool spots to camp/wheel, completely overlooking the stuff that's in my own back yard.

I have to be honest...the fact that we do have so many varied beautiful landscapes to visit and enjoy is about the only thing keeping me here. I do feel fortunate for that fact to have these places to visit.

    Like, so many.
I had a cougar approach me once. Pretty unnerving, to say the least. She was very aggressive, but still holding up well for her age. I'm married though, so I had to take a pass.

A BIG +1 on this. I spend probably half my time now off-roading and camping around Nevada. I have my significant other talked in to moving to Nevada when we retire......can't get her to go before then but as a compromise I will take it. Everything else besides the scenery about California drive me crazy!

I like a lot about the place, actually. But the direction its heading is disturbing. Polarization and extremism in any direction is scary to me. Which is also why you'll never catch me in Texas or Alabama.

Good thing about living in Nevada is its always easy to dip your toe back into California when you want to enjoy the many attractions or the ocean.

Recent news, and general political asshattery aside, Bama is not a complete waste. Some of us native sons and daughters are level headed products of a liberal arts background. Good camping and wheeling there as well.

Nice setup man, I'm guessing you're using the quickfist for your tools, but how are you mounting it to the bed rail? I'm trying to figure out a similar setup as well. Not a fan of mounting shovels/axes on the outside of bedracks.

Thanks! I made the mounts, see my write-up here. I used Hondo Garage toyota utility track t-nuts to mount the brackets to the bed rail.

I like that awning, how's it working out in any kind of wind? Obviously you have to stake it out but it's got to be more convenient than stakes and poles.
