    Save yourself the big Toyota circle jerk headache and just buy a 1 piece driveshaft. Then put some real springs in and dump the Toyota sag and spring wrap that made the crappy 2 piece driveshaft angles wrong. I gave up due to the lack of dealer or factory help years ago. Even wrote letters and was that a big waste of time as they want written documentation that no one has so I could picture their legal guys just laughing their asses off as customers were trying to comply ha ha! Toyota knows the problems but their bottom line profit wins out as legal covers their asses and wears the customer down - gotta love the system! After that realization I replaced the driveshaft and springs myself with better aftermarket and my Tacoma finally worked correctly - and my blood pressure sure dropped.

    If this suggestion was oriented toward me, I do not think I have a two piece drive shaft. My truck is a 5 foot bed regular cab, and does not have a carrier bearing or any of that silly stuff.

    Hi All, thought I would share my recent experience with Toyota on the U-Joint issue. Received the notice almost a year ago and wasn't experiencing issues at the time so I didn't want to pay the dealership for a diagnostic. About a month ago I began to experience the vibration in the driveline and immediately called my dealership to schedule a U-Joint/Drive Shaft inspection. I called on April 29th and the earliest availability the dealership had was on May 10th. Went into the dealership on the 10th and sure enough I had a bad U-Joint; unfortunately the warranty enhancement expired on April 30th and they could not perform the work under the warranty enhancement program. I explained how I called prior to the expiration date but the dealerships hands were 'tied'; so I called Toyota Headquarters. The first rep was very rude so I called back and spoke to a rep named Paige; she was very friendly and sounded like she was doing all she could to check into the issue. After two weeks I have found out that Toyota will not do anything to help resolve this issue.

    Any suggestions from anyone on how to get Toyota or the dealership to acknowledge the warranty enhancement program would be appreciated!!

    I left my truck unannounced in the parking lot citing safety concerns AS SOON AS I experienced it. That way they diagnose on the spot and you don’t get pushed out by a busy schedule.

    Man, I wish someone had brought this up when I asked about the vibrating noise I was hearing prior. Toyota dealer now says I am too late for Toyota to pay for it.

    Customized stock driveshaft. Front half is same, smaller 1310 u-joint (stock u-joints are 1330) double cardan joint (with Ford Ranger center bearing) and the rear driveshaft was flipped 180* and shortened some, to make room for the double cardan joint. About $500 from a local shop.

    EDIT: Found an old post with part numbers and a basic break down;

    Starting at the front and working towards the diff:

    T-Case > Front Shaft > Center Bearing > 2-4-4341 Spicer spline end yoke > Spicer 1310 u-joint > 211355X Spicer centering yoke > 2-26-497 Spicer double cardan center > Spicer 1310 u-joint > 2-28-2977X Spicer Tube Yoke >
    NEAPCO 5368 - 3" to 3.5" adapter to fit 2-28-2977X to flipped and shortened rear driveshaft > Rear Driveshaft > Diff

    Lots of good info in this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/single-and-two-piece-driveshaft-vibes-be-gone.475797/page-29

    Can somebody explain to me what secondary coverage means. I got the letter a while ago, but had no vibration. Seems that I ran out of time in the primary coverage. Noticed on my way to work last night that I’m getting a vibration when accelerating. When I let my foot off the gas it’s not there. Seems pretty consistent with the problem people have had and covered. I also got my truck back for frame replacement a month ago so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

    So, how did it turn out? Did Toyota fix it? Was there a charge?
