    Is anyone out there doing any mods on their engine for towing? I have no emissions where I am at and I am somewhat disappointed with the low speed towing on my ride. I need more low end power. I had to back up a hill with about a 3000 or 4000 pound load, needed to be at about 5mph. I had to put it in low range because I couldn't go slow enough with the manual transmission and stay in the power band.

    Any chance there is a way to put it in low and stay in 2wd?

    I am trying not to re gear, I got this truck as my commuter because it gets much better mileage than my old f 350. It seems to tow fine at speed, it is just lacking for slow speeds because of the mt. If I went with a at I think it might have been better, but I have what I have.

    Not sure what you are doing but you can look into a “craw box”.

    You can try OV Tune for more power, but the Reverse Gear in the Manual is a bit of an issue

    Until a supercharger kit becomes available you aren't getting more torque. Lot's of guys have regeared and the truck gets good gas mileage, sometimes even better, with 456, 488 or even higher.

    The Manual already has 4.30 Gears, Reverse is like a highway gear and backing up a hill with a trailer is not fun, 4 Lo is the best option.

    This was one reason I did not go with 33s......reverse is still a bit high with 31s but still manageable.

    I knew that the mt was a lower ratio than the at. I had hoped that the ratio for first and reverse would be the same, like all the other manual transmissions I've had. This doesn't seem like it though.
