Cars with these engines had frames and towed travel trailers and boats also.

Can someone on the west coast advise if I80 is a 40 degree incline? Or decline? Or maybe it's cold? This guy's story is not consistent.

    From http://neverbuyatacomaoffroad.com

"100 miles into our trip (104.5 miles, to be exact), on I80 west going 70mph, we hear a massive explosion and lose all throttle, steering, and power to the truck.

    Crap.

    The engine blew."

(Now wave your hand like John Cena)

    From https://expeditionportal.com/forum/...-owners-up-in-arms-about-their-trucks.205556/

"I blew the Taco engine at 40 degrees or so doing a hill climb I've done many times in the LR3. When I took it into the dealership Toyota's position is: "this is not a warranty repair, it's a one time favor to replace your engine." which is kind and everything, but makes the truck worthless to me since I don't know what a safe hill climb looks like."

The saddest part is that he keeps dragging this issue back up. He could probably get decent trade in on the truck and sell all the shit he had to have, and pick up something like a Chevy Traverse and let the whole issue go, but no, he keeps bringing this back from the dead. I wonder if people like this lose sleep over this shit. I hope so, I mean if your going crazy about a truck, why half ass it?

The raptor is HP numbers on paper for simple minded ford people.

It’s wide. But it’s weak all the same. It’s not a super hero, it’s a production facsimile of what a low end trophy truck “would” look like if someone ran out of build money 1/16 into the build.

While I haven't torn any of the GR engines down, from what I understand, the 3.5L and 4.0L aren't really that different either. If one had an oil drain back problem, the other would as well.

The new 4th gen wont have any of these Hydrolock and incline/oil problems.

You realize there's a big difference in the LS truck motors and the LS car motors right?

The big block motors were in a different time. all cars and trucks were body on frame. Hell some of the cars probably out weighed the trucks in the 60's-70's

:notsure::notsure: I have never seen a 2nd gen have a problem. I'm sure there would be a tread about it if it was.
Hell I have had my 2nd gen and a 25 year old land crusier idling on a 40* plus hill for 45 mins during a recovery. That was 80k miles ago and no problems yet

I hate to wade into this shit-fest as I don't have a dog in the fight (2tr fe), but this is like 10 minutes of googling. I'm no expert in this by any means, but it stands to reason that ANY engine can have this issue on steep hills, since gravity is a thing and oil is a fluid :notsure:

did you read any of that? 1 of them was the oil being way overfilled. 1 of them wasn't coming out the tail pipe but from a port. and 2 of them were gasket problems
