I went from a 4cyl sedan to a 6cyl truck, I knew I'd take a hit to mpg but, not a hit this bad. I did the math over and over again, and even got an ODM reader to output gas mileage for me. I'm. Averaging 10mpg highway, not towing, not in 4-hi. Brand new tires are 17's highway tires with low resistance. I've checked the spark plugs, changed the oil, monitored oil temperature, checked the the air filter and secondary breather filter and, checked the transmission fluid.

What could be causing the super low mpg?

My first step would be to clean your MAF and your throttle body. Easy and cheap and fast. Also what tire pressure are you running? What size tires and what load rating? Stock suspension or lifted?

I've been through 2 sticking front calipers in 2 years. Check for hot wheels after driving

    Double check your math

    Try some fuel injector cleaner

    Air filter replacement

    Clean your MAF

    New spark plugs

Stock suspension, 265/65/R17, "the correct" psi, they were filled by the shop that mounted them. Not sure of the load rating.

Can you point me in the right direction for how to clean the MAF and throttle body?

Air filter is brand new, injector cleaner has been applied. Math has now been triple checked.

It should be behind the air box. It’s very easy. Just buy MAF and throttle body cleaner. Once you have everything off you can clean both fairly quickly. Just YouTube it if you need some pointers

I’d double check tire pressure first as that’s the easiest. Go off of the door jamb for proper numbers.

Do the throttle body and MAF first. It’s pretty easy and go from there... path of least resistance...

In cleaning the MAF, correct me if I'm wrong, but I can just pull it from its housing and hose it with MAF cleaner right?

    haha right?
It cant hurt, especially on a used truck that you probably dont know the service history of.. But I don't see how it would cause a significant drop in mpg's without grenading the rear end at the same time

Also, like randy said, check the tire pressures yourself too as an easy 1st step

Make sure you let it dry for a good hour and it’s off the vehicle first.

In addition to what’s already mentioned... I would also check the wheel alignment.
