It's not very big, it might be 65lbs heavier than a 3RZ though. I'm not sure what Toyota was thinking when they cooked up the RZ platform but there are lots of design choices that suggest they may have had power in their original plan. Be it the ten TTY flywheel bolts or the extra main bearing supports, the subtle 5500rpm redline that easily can be pushed to 7k. But I still wouldn't even go for the 3RZ, I'd probably set my sights on the 1UZ or the way heavier than all of these... 2JZ. The 2J is as played out as LS almost but they can still be a challenge to build because they aren't a bang for your buck beater like the LS. Gotta plan your build with a 2JZ, you can just throw shit together with an LS.

Anyone make cams? Isky can usually be persuaded to mess around if you have some cash. But you need to look at getting adjustable cam gears made as well cause you'll be able to dig more power out by degreeing them yourself.

If you saw a 5vz next to a 3mz you’d see the size difference. It’s not a lot, but it makes it a much harder swap than other engines.
And with plenum it is pretty tall

    Colt has grinds
The 3vz-fe cams fit (untested, but they fit)

The 3MZ is the weird laid back minivan engine right. Looked like someone pushed over a V6 in a fight

    It’s a popular mr2 swap. There’s a Camry
Running around with one pushing 1200hp fwd. decent little aluminum block

Thought about porting yourself. Nothing about those heads looks special, just some knife edged port dividers, a casting smooth, and he raised the roof (roof has velocity issues so that was smart of him, lowering the floor would have been a mistake) on the intake ports. You could do all that in a weekend after maybe practicing on a scrap head from work.

The 3vz-fe is what was in 93-94 Camry’s that damn thing was shoehorned into them. Engines tilted at a 30 degree angle just to get the thing to fit. Changing plugs is a nightmare on them

He only wanted 500. That was why I want them. Lol
The heads are ground for high lift cams, you can see the work, and it looks like nice clean port work

I’ve ported motorcycle engines. I can do
    It. Just time
    Consuming. As the time
Comes to get it running I might mess
    With it. We shall see.

I'd go for it, 5VZ heads are cheap enough to give it a go, always a few in the junkyard. That's not even a polished port, it's just smoothed (which is really where the bulk of the flow improvements come from) but still the polishing is the majorly time consuming part.

Once the frames rolling I’m going to get the trans done. Going to either send it to atf speed and have it built built. Or get the parts from them and build it myself.

Some air turbulence isn’t bad if your going to use the vehicle on the street.

But I’m not messing with my brand new heads just yet. See what she does on the frame (I’m going to try and have it running without the body.. at least to run the engine in.)

Manual or auto, I forgot what you had. I'd send a R150 to be faceplated, it would get very loud but extremely fun. Or just do what everyone's doing now and use a CD006

ATF speed does the a340 for the supras. I have yet to call them, but I’m sure they’d do a a340f. Their transmissions aren’t behind 1000hp supras

Oh, auto. Yeah I don't have any good ideas for that. I'm sure they can build em up strong but I've never seen a Supra that hasn't already been swapped for a manual. That's actually one of the reasons the CD006 got so popular. Someone made an adapter to mate that nice Nissan 6 speed to the a340 bellhousing and the shifter pokes through in the perfect spot. On the plus side that might make it easy to find an already built a340 that's being sold.

the a340s weakest link is the 2nd gear sprag. ATF speed has a monster sprag they install. billet beauty. ive seriously considered the manual route. but so much of this truck is not original anymore.. id like to keep one thing original! the trans... er well.. the casing.

i seriously doubt i'll keep the engine in the truck if i go past 600 hp. past that point i'll install the eventually rebuilt original motor and leave it supercharged.

the engine thats going it now is kind of a test bed. (an expensive one) i aint going to try and blow it up. but i want to push it a bit. i have an odd obsession with this engine.. probably because its the first real engine i worked on as a kid with my dad. (basic maintenance. but still)
