    hi.

I have a TRD sport model, and I have a traction control off button on my overhead console. By default it is turned ON.
When I press it, I see the icon's on the display Auto LSD and for traction control off indicating them.
I just never understood when/where is a good time/circumstances that I would need to turn my traction off? Looking for an example.

Even if you read the owners manual, there is not a good explanation in there. It is worth reading though.

The best source of TRAC info is here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-traction-control-modes-explained.530695/

That one little button controls a lot of things. It would be worth it, in my mind, to print off @BigWhiteTRD 's attachments and go test them out:

Always off is the fun option:burnrubber::boink:

But in all seriousness, I would leave it on unless you are off road and stuck, at least that's what I have been told it's for. My 07 doesn't have it anyways though.

The 3rd Gen, even the SR / SR5 / Sport / Limited, have an upgraded TRAC system over the 2nd Gens. I'll use Auto LSD or TRAC Off on wet on ramps to drift a bit. That was after a lot of time getting used to the characteristics with it on default.

I wish that I got a pic of it, but a gold wrapped C7 was coming the other way yesterday. If it was lined up next to me, I wouldn't even attempt it. You can't win if there's no class.

    That's class.

I also envy the garage space. :D

That Google Image Search hurt my eyes. Funny thing, that is a WA plate in the background.

M6! It’s been sold since then though, needed some money for new projects.

Yeah, never understood that. It’s on par with people who have fake exotics that are built on different car chassis and what not.

The wording from Toyota is incredibly vague. What I think is going on: Toyota I suspect is defining TRAC as including both brake modulation as well as engine modulation. When you take the TRAC off you are disabling the engine modulation up to a certain threshold. But you are maintaining the brake modulation to assist with traction. Where it gets really confusing is Toyota has this two wheel drive AUTO LSD. This auto LSD disables below a certain threshold the engine modulation but maintains the brake modulation when in 2 wheel drive. In any mode the brake modulation to assist in traction is maintained. The difference is with the engine modulation. Toyota needs to completely redo the wording on all of this.

Yeah. Most of that. But it also depends which model and if 2Hi, 4Hi, or 4Lo. Of course in 2Hi, TCS is off below 35mph and on above like you said.

That is why reading the sticky for the particular model and testing it all is important (and fun) to do.

It is the doughnut button. When in 2x drive on wet, mud or snow hit it whilst driving erratically and in circles. Make hasty to avoid people you like.
