That’s the whole point, most of the time it’s a professional thief job, replacing window, bumper etc is still cheaper after finding truck in a ditch rather than searching for a new truck.

I can break those in 30 seconds, these are useless.

if a thief sees what you have, he will just come prepared for it. It’s the surprise effect that matters.

I doubt you can break it in 30 seconds, I dont believe that. It is made of steel. I have it. It is not made of plastic. But 30 seconds of 135 db's telling me you are doing it is what I want.

I also believe its the optimistic guys that do the most damage. I can get in and maybe get it.. This is at least visual.

If they want it they will take it. That is how they work.

Who said I am cutting the steel, your steering wheel is easy to replace after I cut it off in sections ;)

cutting plastic steering is way easier.

Yep, 30 seconds a section, this can attach 2 sections.

135 screeming db's while you are doing it.

    I'll take it.

I have also thought about your pedal lock. They are cheap enough that why not have one.

Still takes 15 sec to cut the steering wheel rim. About as long as cutting UCA bolts... https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-1...f-Tool-Angle-Grinder-Tool-Only-P423/301853890

Replacement leather steering wheel in good condition is about $100 on Kijiji. Sold one a couple of months ago :anonymous:

Again if the guy is bringing an angle grinder, what is going to stop him?

    Nothing.

The thing I got is a deterrent. Go on to my neighbors car or the one 5 spots over in the parking lot with out a flashy light and thingy.

In my front window and front door window of my house, I also have stickers for a local alarm company I dont have installed. :burp:

probably something that should not be mentioned over internet :D

But if it’s targeted theft, it’s going away either way. Those guys can scout for weeks before taking car away.

since we're on the topic of angle grinders
    :bananadead:
I think i got it to work, just need someone to verify if it's to scale since ACAD says that it is correct, but i don't trust Adobe :anonymous:.
These are just the template files for what actually bolts onto the frame and not the actual slider bit.

i don't have the fancy files (nore do i know how to make them) for CNC cutting.
i plan to use an angle grinder for this.

    the entire file on it's own is a hybrid between the 2nd gen and 3rd gen templates that i found;
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-3rd-gen-sliders.534658/
    and
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-bolt-on-frame-plates-for-sliders.302192/

but with some creative designs thanks to talking with @daks about the mobtown sliders.
i just need to figure out the bolt holes in the entire thing since i am missing 1 or 2 here and there.

red is for where the material bends.

The boards came with my truck when I bought it
It’s the brackets that hold them on keep them tucked up to the truck so they are useless when getting out.
Right now I’m looking at ok get sliders for $700 or fix my boards and get them powder coated for $300
Don’t even have to do the powder coating part but I’m trying to change the look a bit

None of it matters when they're towing flatbedding it away. I think GPS tracking is needed. I was thinking something like spot trace.

Trucks and heavy suvs are more likely to be driven away, flat bed loading is too suspicious and regular towing would also be hard, especially if you backup and your rear wheels are locked in park.

it’s all that modern features with keyless start, signal gets copied way too easy. there are kits all over internet for that:annoyed:

probably good idea on keeping a cheap cell in the truck to track it down.

Defeatable if the thief carries a Chinese cell phone jammer.

There are higher-end systems marketed by Boomerang that would alert you if the truck is separated from your key fob by a preset distance (or signal is lost).
