Anybody know what type of diff fluid goes into the rear diff of the 2018 4x2 trd sport double cab? I can only find write ups of 2nd gen and manual trans and I'm not sure if there will be any major differences between the 2. TIA

Thanks, do you know if it needs any extra additives?

It’s also spelled out in the owners manual; oil quantity needed is also listed. I just changed my 4 x 4‘s diff oil to Amsoil severe gear 75W 90 after 35k miles. The rear diff looked like it was probably OK but the front came out almost completely black on my truck. If you have a level parking pad to do the work this is maybe a 20 minute job super easy.

No worries! Make sure you get a set of drain and fill plugs for the diff too. They are one time use as the washer deforms under torque to stay sealed. You can reuse the original washer after filling and driving for a while, but replace with a new one when you finish the final level check. The set on Amazon is like $12 but includes washers for the front diff and transfer case which you won’t need.

I swear my truck drives better with the new gear oil, but it could just be that I feel good about doing maintenance.
