I installed a aftermarket tow hitch but I’m having trouble finding a tow hitch wiring harness. I wanted to use the factory 7/4 pin connector but Toyota will only quote me for the entire wiring assembly for $849. Has anyone else had the same issue?

On my old truck i took it to a local hitch place and they did the wiring for around $250. They used the OEM connector that goes on the bumper and they even wired it for trailer brakes. It looked like an OEM install when they were done. Might want to check with a local hitch place in your area.

Thank you! I called etrailer and they said that they no longer have part #C56282 they replaced it with part #C56349. I will look into hitch places. Yes i have a 4 cylinder.

Where did you get the hitch? What model?
I’m going to order the Curt hitch next week and install it. I’m not doing any wiring, just mounting the hitch for a bike rack.

I got it from etrailer. Part #75238. I like it. Not too shabby. It did get delivered with one of the brackets a little bent. But their customer service said that was normal. I had to install the bent side first then used a line up bar to install bolts in the other side.

That’s why you have to buy a whole factory harness.

No 4 cylinders are wired for a tow package. You don’t have a wire to connect a 4/7 to.

if you're going to going to be towing more than 2,000 lbs. and you have an automatic transmission. You might want to think about adding a transmission cooler.

You don't have to go the hitch place route, but a good one will give you what you're looking for at a reasonable price.

Yea I decided to take it to a local hitch place for the wiring since I already installed the hitch myself.

Ran into a snag. When i went to the trailer place the guy ran out of the 7/4 pin connector so he installed the 4 flat connector instead. Now i have to cut that off.

That sucks! Sorry to hear that this happened to you. The guy I took it to talked to me about what I wanted to do and he explained was he was going to do before he started.

You can probably pick a 7/4 up on Ebay. Here is a link to one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-2019-...N-PLUG-OEM-TOYOTA/323046178658?epid=657819005

Hope you can get it taken care of.

I fixed it. Here’s what i got. I went by the manual for the wire connections. So far so good! Thanks for the help. 596CE826-E0FA-4CDA-B80C-6B9CAC2B098D.jpgD87CA8DC-71BB-492C-9503-918AEA63ACFB.jpg526E639B-232F-4A62-9FB4-A325FAE117B9.jpg7825C0D9-624F-485D-8929-EA6B485B17B2.jpg7498B318-F68F-4956-8247-067671FE2074.jpg
