any idea if this connector (little black one next to the white one) is for the factory wiring harness. Looking to hopefully avoid the Curt wiring mess. I've searched the forum and found mixed answers. 17 SR with convenience package

Interested in this as well, can someone post a pic of a Tow package truck in the same spot?

If so, that would have saved me a lot of time, trouble and zip ties ...

Have tow package. That connector is still open on mine. I didn't look too hard but the trailer connection wires run back past the spare. I have a full size so I didn't look too hard in my dress shirt haha

Maybe that is the connector for backup sensors or the 110v inverter then?

The second pic shows how the trailer plug harness is integral into the woring harness. Can see the plug in the first pic.

Thanks! I'd say no judging by your pics. Maybe I'll hold off until the aftermarket comes up with a cleaner solution. Never did like the look of the four pin connecter dangling from the hitch. It would be nice if they had one that fit into the factory slot

    They do.

The hopkins 40975 works with the curt harness (just takes an adapter or some soldering to make it work).

It's standard size now a days. Only problem is you need the Curt signal converter.

This works, just have to splice the wires.

Although I may go with the Hopkins down the road, I decided to go with just the Curt 4-pin but used a flush mount for a cleaner look - only $5 more and some dremel work.
