Just bought a 2000 3RZ parts truck. What parts should I be hoarding for the future?

I have to scrap it at the end of the week and am wondering what is worth holding on to. I have a 2000 Regular Cab 3RZ 4WD Manual with 177,000 miles. Rebuilt engine 3000 miles ago. Parts truck is 2001 Extended Cab 3RZ 4WD Manual with 100,000 miles. Any thoughts? Will also be posting to BST later but don't have enough posts yet.Parts Truck.jpg

What a fun color, and from that single pic, it looks great!

Already swapped the fuel door, might do the hood, doors and quarter panels too. Trying to figure out if it would look dumb though.

Don't have storage space. Going to thoroughly strip it first. Frame is completely rusted through.

The undercarriage is throughly screwed. I am parting it out as well and saving as much as I can fit on a pallet. It is also in Alaska and to ship it anywhere would be $2000+.

I like the color of the parts truck but mixing that color with your grey 1st gen is going to look....bad, lol. In my opinion. Shouldn't be too hard to color match the paint though

Well that makes more sense.. If it was me, i'd still just post a thread and offer someone till the end of the week to come get it. Those interested might surprise you..

Just throwing it out there, im an enthusiast, and i hate to see something like that go to waste - someone out there is bound to be able to have some use for it..

I will. I need to hit the 50 post mark to put it on BST though. I have already put it on Facebook and Craigslist. I am going to try to pull the transmission and transfercase for sure though. I want to keep my truck going to 500K plus.

Good plan, id keep everything i could that would swap over to your truck directly that you might end up needing in 150k+ miles. By then, that stuff may be much harder to find.

If you want, you can go to the new members section, and welcome some of the new folks! Good way to get your post count up and show folks a warm welcome

Depending on how hard it is to find 1st gens there and if you have a place to store.

I’d be saving the doors, fenders, hood, tailgate, misc interior pieces, cv axles, alternator, ps pump and whatever else you think you might need.

Doesn’t hurt to have a spare if everything if you have the space.

Just keep the whole truck bud. Cover it with a tarp or a waterproof cover and every time you need something you'll have it.

I would keep the whole thing lol, but that's just me. If you absolutely cannot keep it I would pull anything you think you might ever need to use and throw it in a shed. Hit a deer? Gonna need fenders. Or a door. Definitely keep the engine and all related parts. Front grille, lights, axles. Would be nice to have spare brake lines and stuff (if they aren't seized solid) Also the hood, tires rims, etc etc etc.

I'd keep all wire harnesses too. Great source of any kind of connectors and pigtails when needed to tap into circuits and not look like a "ghetto hack".
