Yeah they don't look to bad. I might get a pack and try them out on some local windshields.

Well, figure this is as good as place as any to post this...

Any ideas for trail run #4? Jason thought it might be nice to do something out by Danny (Wendover), if anyone knows something.

Well, this Utah Backcounty Adventures book I have has a few trails, but I think I talked about them before. Here's a summary though:

They have 4 trails listed out by Wendover.

    1. Wendover to Lucin (Ghost town). Difficulty: 3 (2/5 on a Moab scale). Length: 50 miles/3 hours.

    2. Silver Island Mountain Loop/Donner Party Trail. Difficulty: 1. Length: 50 miles/3 hours.

    3. Transcontinental Railroad. Difficulty: 2. Length: 90 miles/5 hours. (The complete trail goes from Lucin to Salt Lake, but the groups that have done it around here dont go that far. I believe they only go from Salt Lake to the sun tunnels thing on the other side of the lake).

    4. Pony Express Trail. Difficulty: 1. Length: 130 miles/5 hours. Goes from 5 mile pass area to about 50 miles south of Wendover.

They also have a bunch of trails listed out by Bear Lake. If someone wants more info on these, I can scan the pages, but dont want to make them public due to copywrite stuff.

    Some other ideas:
We could try Rattlesnake at 5 mile pass. We just went up some random trail last time I think. Rattlesnake might be a bit on the rough side though. I think its rated a 3/5 but I've also heard of stock vehicles going through. Maybe there's bypasses on any hard spots or something. But then again, I've also heard of cars getting up near the top of Constrictor.

There's tons of trails in American Fork Canyon. Mineral Basin (3/5), Miller Hill, North of Silver Lake, Mary Ellen Gulch, many many old mine shafts and such. There's also supposed to be hundreds of other trails around this area; so many that you could never see everything.

There's a place called "Little Moab" on the way to Delta. It looks more like a "playground" for rock climbing and less about trails though. I remember reading that there is an old mine north of it if we wanted a trail. Dont remember much about it though.

Hoyt Peak/Josephine Mine near Kamas. The mine has been "improved" (ie destroyed by the government), but it might be a decent trail.

But then again, I've never actually been to any of these places myself, so I really cant say how old my information is, if the trail still even exists, or how difficult it is. I've love to go scout some places with someone if any thing catches someones attention though.

Wasn't it Matt that said something about things to do a little south east of Wendover on our first trip? Or was that more for bikes?

Inspiration point might be a good one to go to for one of the runs as well.

Other than the Knolls which is mostly for dirt bikes I know very little of 4X4 trails out by Wendover.

Yeah same here. Now I talked to a buddy of mine that said he knew some trails outside Wendover but he said they were quite a ways away. I dont want all you guys to come all the way out here, then drive another 70 miles to get to where we need to be. That just seems like to many miles to be honest. But yeah Jas, I would be up for an overnighter!!;)

Ya, but you've still driven 120 miles to just get to Salt Lake for the last three meets. If its 70 miles towards Salt Lake, thats about the half way point for most of us. If its 70 miles into Neveda, I'd still be willing to do it, but would probably spend the night in Wendover beforehand. It would probably be on limit most people are willing to travel though. Maybe if we did something like that for an overnight thing, it might be good.

Also, I just thought I'd bring this up since apparently I'm not the only one with a collection of firearms.

Is there any interest in a small get together to shoot a round of trap or two?

If you've never done it, or never even handled a shotgun before, it really is a fun way to spend the afternoon. The recoil is very low and I have a few extra shotguns I can bring along, although one can easily be shared as well. Most of the clay targets really are a lot easier to tag then you'd think and pretty satisfying when you completely powder one.

When I go, I dont pay attention to scores or anything else like that so there really isn't any pressure. I'm definitely not that good, but just enjoy shooting the gun and watching things blow up.

Anyway, if there's any interest, I dont think I could make it this next weekend, but could on the 4th or 5th pretty easy. Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, its perfect for it.

Count me in. If we go out to the dessert I have the two throwers below I could bring or if want we could just go over to Lee Kay.
If we go out to the dessert we can bring some rifles / pistols.
I'm down for the 4th. Anybody else interested?

If you guys really want to? We can shoot almost anywhere out here as long as its outside city limits. I have an ar-15 that you guys can shoot and practice with cause I have lots of rounds!!:D But I would still like to go wheeling since you guys would be coming out this far. I'll look into some wheeling spots out here. A buddy of mine was talking about some but they are a little ways away from Wendover.

The closest to Brigham City area (I assume thats what you're talking about) is Inspiration Point. 3/10 difficulty. 1.5 hours each way. 360 degree view from the top. A place I've always heard is fantastic since I was a kid, but never been there, so kinda on my personal list of places I want to check out.

There's also the Monte Cristo Road that is marked as closed during the winter, so I'm positive there's many trails off of that.

There are also a bunch of trails up there by Bear Lake.

Hardware Ranch Road. Difficulty: 2/10. Distance: 40 miles/30 unpaved. From the pics and description, about as difficult as the main AF canyon run. Goes from Hyrum to US89.

There's like 5 other trails that branch off of this main trail. Millview Canyon (4/10), Left Hand Fork Canyon (2/10), Strawberry Valley (1/10), Temple Canyon (1/10), Old Ephraim Trail (4/10), and Peter Sinks Trail (3/10).

Idaho Loop (2/10) is also a bit more north, starting and ending at US89, following Logan River and Beaver Creek.

Anyway, thats all this book has for up north. I'm sure there's lots of trails up there for someone willing to explore a little.
