Not sure if this has been asked before, but has anyone installed a 3rd seat in an access cab? Can it be done? I have two seats that fold up on passenger and drivers sides but just a cup holder/console type deal between those seats. I’d like to put a seat there.

    Welcome to TW! :fistbump:

Lets start with the space in the access cab in the back.

Have you sat in those 2 'seats' you claim are back there? They might fit children for more than 20 minutes. My brother wanted to be left at the side of the road after 45 mins back there, and he is only 5'8".

I am not sure how you could fit another person in there.

3 children is what you are thinking of?

Simply a space for storage. Maybe some roadkill if it’s a small deer you done want the game warden to see.

Yeah it would definitely be for a kid. My two sit ok in their seats, one is even a 5 point harness but would like to be able to bring a 3rd kid when necessary. If I can’t do it, I can’t, but I was super hoping I could lol.

My 2 kids in booster seats fit back there... I don't see how you'd fit a 3rd if any of them were small enough to need any kind of child seat. And if they were all big enough to not need one, they'd probably be too big to all fit back there. If you just need room for a 3rd kid and not a 5th seat, turn the passenger airbags off and rock on with that.

I used to know a chick that used a 1st gen extended cab to haul her 4 kids... with a bench front seat. Looked like a clown car.

OP if you want to buy the bench seat from my regular cab that'll give you three seats up front. It'll bolt right up.

Just pull the seats and storage bin out and make a configuration that works for you using plywood and some OEM carpeting. My seats are pulled and I'm working on just such a thing now. There are other threads out there that can guide you through the process. It took me about 30 minutes to pull it all and reinstall the back cover. Biggest issue is there is more noise now so I may add some extra sound damper material to quiet the cab noise before the platform goes in.

I wouldn’t even put a small kid back there, it could bring on claustrophobia later on in life.

Got more pics? I didn't remove the storage bins under the seats yet (kinda like having them there) and would love to see your full process...I like what you've done and may duplicate it

Beautiful! I love it. That looks like what I'll have to do...and it looks like it didn't take too much time or $$ to do it which I love...
