Hey everyone, the time is getting near when my 1st gen will be for sale. I'd love to see the truck go to another enthusiast (hopefully here on TW) and want to make sure both parties get a fair deal, so I'd love to get your thoughts on how much you think its worth.

Truck is a black 2004 Access cab, V6. 5spd, TRD offroad with just over 126k miles. It has the gray interior, and is completely stock except for an aftermarket Pioneer head unit (needed to be able to charge my phone while driving). I'm the second owner, bought it from the original owner in NJ almost exactly a year ago. I have a folder full of service records dating back to 2004 and the original window sticker. Muffler was rusting through a few months ago so I had a shop replace everything from the cat back with brand new OEM piping. I'm only selling because I have a kid on the way in September and need to get something with a full backseat :(

Here's a link to the thread I started when my frame rusted through. It details the process the truck went through, culminating in me finally convincing Toyota to replace the frame. I got it back at the end of May and have been daily driving it since then: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...e-off-my-frame-today-is-my-frame-junk.577543/

I haven't yet taken my "glamour shots" for when I post it for sale, so these are some pics I just had on my phone. The paint is in great shape, I'm pretty good about regularly washing and waxing. I primarily use Griot's Garage Liquid Poly Wax since its more durable and the truck is stored outside. Obv the truck is 15 years old so it has signs of use, small scratches here and there, but overall is in great shape. I don't have any interior pics yet unfortunately, but it is relatively clean with no rips or tears in the upholstery.

I would love to get $10-12k for it, but not sure if that's realistic. You all rock, thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Most you'll get for it is about twenty bucks.

Should I write you a check or do you want cash?

It's worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay for it.

Go do some research on craigslist, offerup, Facebook and see what others are selling theirs for. Compared your truck overall condition to theirs, mileage, title status, etc and that's how you should come up with your value.

Congrats on the kid! I'm in the same sort of predicament myself....wife and I just found out a little over a month ago, got a due date in Jan.

I'm aiming to keep my truck and make it my weekend toy (since I wheel it regularly anyway)...that was always the plan for me but now it's been sped up lol.

It's kind of funny that our xtra cabs have car seat anchors in the back seats but there's no way on gods green earth that a car seat would fit back there.

Although, our 04s do have an on/off switch for the passenger air bag and it IS legal to put a car seat up front so long as the airbag is off.

Not saying it's the safest place for a baby but it is an option. I'm going to be getting another (gas friendly this time) commuter vehicle eventually, at least I hope lol.

    Congrats again!

$12k seems reasonable to me, but I am used to California prices. That would probably be listed for $17k at a dealer out here.

I would think the low miles, documentation, desirable options and new frame would get you top dollar just to save the next guy in your area the hassle of flying to texas or something to get a decent truck and driving back.

I was looking multiple states away for mine and it ended up being 3 hours away. I was fine to pay a bit more for the simple convenience of it.

Dont sell though if at all possible. Just use your partners car for any kid stuff when you have the rear facing seat. Once they are old enough to turn the seat around you can squeeze one in there. Most people i know aways use one car for family trips anyways.

I have the same truck as the OP except in red, and I got mine 3 years ago at a Toyota dealer in San Diego for $20k but it had only 24k miles on it.

With 126k miles I would except his to go for closer to $12k like you said or $14k on the high end. If it were a double cab, then add another 3 or 4 grand to that.

That's a beautiful truck. You shouldn't settle for a dime less than $10k!

Start high and work your way down. That is a MINT truck.

Also we are truck twins, I have the EXACT same truck as you: 2004, ext cab, all black, 5 speed, TRD, 3.4L, grey interior!

There are numerous occasions where people list one of these for "what they think is on the high end of pricing" and it sells within a day or two, then they regret not asking for more. Don't make that mistake. Start at $18k at least, no bites for a while? Drop by $1k till you start getting some bites.

It took me an extremely long time to find the truck I have now and this is exactly how I wanted it set up. And that was in 2008. Someone out there would drive a long way to buy your truck. Believe me. Factory matched paint, TRD 5 speed, V6, grey interior, low miles, last year of production? I mean I might be a little biased, but I'm just sayin..

Thanks man, congrats to you as well! I'm so excited for the dad life, except for the needing a different vehicle part. If I wheeled my truck I would likely keep it as a 2nd vehicle/toy, but since it's a complete pavement queen it doesn't make sense for me to pay for maintenance and insurance on two vehicles that would have the same purpose haha. I love my Tacoma to death but just feel like I should get something safer that will suit our needs better :(

Truck twins! I'm hella biased too but we have damn awesome trucks haha. I probably will do what you're suggesting, and hopefully end up at a number that is fair for both me and the buyer. It's just so unlike any vehicle i've ever bought or sold... it's hard to pin down a realistic number because theyre so in demand

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
BLACKTRD, that looks like a clean truck.

If you're in no hurry just put your "I really don't care if I sell it price" on it. Like others said, you can always come down. But, figure the number you won't below. Make "your price" sale. And be ready to walk away if you don't get it. That's for selling or buying. Not bragging, I'm kinda immune to sales tactics. I pay cash and try not to get into binds where I need to sell/buy. Oh, and experience helps... I was a Navy recruiter and then worked sales at Carmax for a bit. But, I sell my own stuff different than most. I list for pretty much what I want out of something; truck, boat, etc. I just sold my original 1978 F150 Ranger Lartiat. I listed for $10,500. I had numerous $9.5k, $10k offers. I told them... please read the ad listing price before coming to look, "the price is the price". I had 3 guys in front of me start a bidding war. I took the 1st guys $10.5k because that's what I listed it for. And most important.... be straight up. Don't screw people over. If it needs something, just lay it out for them.

With that configuration a 2004, new frame, clean carfax , 2 owners, low 126 miles, post the ad starting 14K but don't let go for a dime less of 13K solid cash, otherwise keep it ... i know the financial part scare us sometimes but things change and then we regret to letting go a good truck.... like others said, let's get a comfortable family ride ( wife's car ).. and let me keep my truck to get to work ... this is what I like ... point ! , now if someone match what I want $$ for the truck ..... all yours then

Myself I would be scared to buy that Truck.

Much to clean in a week it would be hit by at least 2 fork lifts and 3 deer

What ever the market will bring .

If at all possible hang on to the truck
