What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I would look around for another grey console. I passed on 3 grey ones in search of my tan one. Call your local salvage yards, even if their not a pick n pull type. I got mine at a yard where employees pull stuff for you. Found it using car-part.com. Also, make sure you have this bracket or it will be real un steady when its mounted in the truck.

 

My interior is already gray, but in 01 they changed the interior colors. My current 00 interior is a bluish gray. The newer 01+ are more solid gray. The new to me console came with the bracket. Looking to paint for two reasons. 1) cover blemishes. 2)match my current interior better. Here is a pic of the color difference for reference...

 

Yeah that would bug me too. It looks tan in comparison.

When i was into the import scene (fast and furious days) i learned by trial amd error.

First civic i did all white. Shit peeled right away due to no prepping.

2nd civic i did only the vents and certain pieces. Lightly sand, wash really good with dish soap. They sale a paint ashesive called bull dog i believe. Once that cures you spray your color. Held up very well.

I did the same to my 3rd civic. Looked and held up great. I did the same as the 2nd civic. I converted a grey interior to all black and cherry red. Even died some of the cloth. Looked really good

FML....shattered the rear passenger window on the topper...now I gotta pull off the other glass and take it to someone who cuts glass windows.

 

Well I am only two weeks late on making this post but Father's Day weekend I took my truck to Badlands Offroad Park and really pushed the trucks limits. I don't have many pics or videos of my actual truck doing anything really crazy unfortunately but I was three wheeled a couple times and up to my doors in water holes a few times. I climbed some rock ledges and got nearly completely vertical on a couple hills.

Next time I am out there I will be sure to bring the GoPro along as well as get more pics/videos of some of the obstacles.

 

Repainted front end chrome, installed Round lights and finally fixed hyper flash turn signal issue.

 

Talk to @Madjik_Man he dyed a bunch of his interior parts and it turned out good a few years ago

 

Can anyone please point me in the right direction for a write-up on a good dual battery set up? Did some searching around there so much material It's hard to point anything decent.

 

I think it’s been 5 years since I converted my interior to black. The only product that has truly held up over the years is Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric dye. Ironically I used it on the entire center console assembly (including the plastic) and it’s been fantastic. Unfortunately you won’t be able to color match it.

Also FYI: search for “cup holder thingies” mod and use the template to create new cup holder tabs. Go to a hardware store, to their plumbing section, and find the high density neoprene they sell for gasket material. Use that for your cup holder tabs.

I cleaned the throttle body and changed the spark plugs. Everything went smooth. I even noticed the sucking sound when I started it up and forgot to plug in the vacuum hose to the PCV. Here are the pictures of my old plugs (37K on them), any cause for concern about the crusty white stuff? Engine runs great.

 

Running a bit hot, probably lean. Replace fuel filter and consider servicing injectors.

 

Yea, it's pristine. Bought it in Nevada, Super dry with 51000 on it in 2015. When I picked it up it was like a brand new 2004 Tacoma.
