Lol i was going WTF at the rear wheel drive + handbrake comment too. Makes no difference unless you want to drag rear wheels

This move is drivers ed 101 pretty much anywhere else in the world.

I am going to practice this maneuver. It sounds handy if you have a heavy payload. It was not taught in drivers' ed or by advising drivers when I was on learner's permit.
Back then, it was a parking brake and was a 4th pedal.

yes, that's what I linked to. I assume that is the most up to date info - the first page on THIS thread hasn't been updated since 2017 so my thinking is the other thread i linked is where info is posted for both Auto and MT tunes.

it's time consuming to filter through 70+ pages of comments on this thread alone

I hear ya. I'm busy trying to watch all of them and apparently not paying attention to which one I'm responding to.

but there is lots of stirring around here right now. 2.0 is soon to show, dump tubes are shipping (i have mine in hand, not installed yet), and FI talk is going nuts with both SC and turbo kits coming.

If you use your hand brake/e brake (whatever you want to call it) on a hill, great. Congrats. I dont. Never have, even with a load or a trailer. Whoop de do. Different strokes for different folks.

I believe the correct term is "emergency parking hand brake drift lever", but I own a TRD Sport with fancy hill start assist, so what do I know.

Fun stick is short, descriptive, and easy to say too. You may get yourself on a registry somewhere for calling it that too loudly though.

Eeewww you own a Sport with all the nanny features, your IQ must be pretty low.... Probably on par or lower than mine because I bought a Pro and don't know how to spend my money.

PRO's are by far the best, and ManualPro's will be worth what you paid for it new, in the future with 100k miles on it. Too bad about the TSS though, for real.
When soul-less electric vehicles are the onlything produced, and government have legislated away gas motors, the market for 6speed manual trucks will be insane. Already 20yo+ Tacoma's with 200k+ miles on them still go for north of $5k.

How you got a manual pro is beyond me though. They are almost impossible to find, at one point I heard they produced 41 total MT Cement Tacoma pro's. I bought my 2017 MT-OR in November of 2016, and could not find a Manual pro to save my life.

Not sure how you justify the "nanny features" in any case, in a thread all about installing 3rd party ECU software to remove the nanny features. It does raise some IQ questions.

I truly feel like there is some kind of software,transmission,rear-end,differential difference between the TRD-Sports and the TRD-OR's that account for so much of the ECU/drivetrain whining. Seems like its majority TRD-Sports who are crying hardest about 'performance' issues.

You either need to stumble into one or find a dealer willing to order one for you with their allocation.

There’s finally MT TRD OR on lots occasionally around here. I had to order mine. My 17 6MT TRD OR is gonna hang around for quite a while.

Ive heard the only reason Manual Pro's are even able to be found, is that dealers have a harder time selling the DesertAir-Snorkel Trucks vs. the normal ones. I personally would have liked the DesertAir Intake, but would have HATED "TSS".

Ill literally NEVER sell my 2017 6mt OR. Ever. Ill keep it as long as I live.

i got the first 3rd gen MT Pro delivered in Texas. how? put down a deposit 6 months before it hit the showroom, and had to chase down the allocation as it was moved from one dealer to another. i followed up with the sales guys to know where the allocation was heading. about 5 1/2 months later i got it. 1 mi on the odo.

Your posts just feels a bit condescending which is why I said that, maybe I should've left a /s? I got the M/T Pro because I ordered it from the biggest dealership in the province, drove 7 hours to get it.

Anyway, if I'm not mistaken, the only reason the Sport got the hill assist while the offroad and Pro dont is because of the brake system, all models except the OR and Pro got a vaccum system while they have an hydraulic one.

Crazy, I was super naive at the time about how buying a Pro worked, and how hard they would actually be to get and how rare MT pro's ended up being.
My old man got a 4Runner-PRO last year, and it was a literal 6 month ordeal. To say the least.

I greatly regret not being able to get a PRO though. Those are once in a lifetime factory creations, with everything they have backed by the warranty. Truly great trucks, despite all the crazy complaining on this board. Were really in a golden age of Trucks and Truck tuning, a la' the early 2000's during the fast and the furious phase. I feel like trucks are what you graduate too when you are 'done' with tuning import cars, and need something that scratches the "aftermarket I-need-to-modify-it" itch, while being actually useful (offroading is cool, and carrying stuff is cool, and 4 seats is cool).

In a few short years, automotive culture will be in terminal decline. Hope to enjoy it while it lasts, wish this community was better, because there is no other option for Tacoma's. Boards like these are absolutely necessary 'for the culture' and for the extremely knowledgeable people that pass through here, but seem to be utterly buried by the inexplicable level of garbage this place has (really unlike any other place tbh). But I guess thats the state of the world overall.
