Question for the guys who did the cigarette lighter mod:

I pulled mine out last night, but a large piece of hard, black plastic stayed behind and is now rattling around inside the console. Also, the dealer parts guy told me I just needed the capped tube and that I would simply reuse the metal portion from the lighter assembly.

What have I done wrong? And any ideas about how to get those parts out from behind the dash?

    TIA...

    Clazzio seat covers,
The black plastic should have come out ..... now you'll have to remove lower dash.

I hate to say it but the parts dude is wrong .... they have two different diameters .... the two parts you need are in above post. I have done this in two Tacomas ... as I said, slow and easy.

    Best of luck,

    Clazzio seat covers,

Part numbers in above post ...... I am glad it worked out for you.

What concerns me is that many of us seem to know more about our vehicles than those responsible for servicing them.

here are the exact part number for the power outlet mod. when i called the dealer near me he said the cover was a invailed number, but it really wasn't, the last numbers are a trim code to match the dash color, so if you are a guy with the light grey dash area here are the part numbers you need

85535-0c010-b2 cover, power outlet 10.89 (b2 is the trim code for the interior)

    85530-06010 socket assby. 20.58

    hope this helps

    A few questions:

I like the white dash look of some vehicles, any ideas on that for our trucks? And the MPG gauge, where do you get that at?

So I was looking for a place to put a power outlet inside the cab and here is what I came up with.

I just tapped into the OEM inverter under the center console. Perfect for charging a lap top or using a wall charger for a cell phone. Let me know what you guys think!
