Toyota deleted the left side bed storage box in the 2019 models. You can purchase the box and lid (separate items) from the dealer for $300+ but I thought someone else may have come up with another option. I have found some boat glove boxes that come close but they're not a flush mount. Anyone else come up with a reasonably priced solution?

It would be a great place for jumper cables and tow rope.

Only if you seal it. And they are tiny jumper cables and a short rope.

Not saying the box isn't useful. Just that it might not have the capacity for those things. Or at least not both of them.

What about a box out of a wrecked 2nd gen? The front rail fits the 3rd gen, so the box may too.

I personally find mine useless. One of the covers blew out at the car wash and I didn't notice till I got home. I didn't even waste my time trying to get it back. The other one I keep my ratchet straps in.

That right there might be a good reason to go with the boat glove box. It has a gasket to keep out water and it's lockable. Only $34.

Is that the actual name of it? I'm curious now. 34 is reasonable. The only time I looked it was like 50-100 for a regular one and if the stock one didn't hold up for long why would I buy another one.

Perfect place for ratchet straps and stuff! Or a small Kidde fire extinguisher if you offroad out west.

Not totally useless. After changing a tire on a slope (no choice), I bought a pair of solid rubber wheel chocks for next time. They stink to high heaven in the Florida heat, still off gassing after 2 years, so the bed box is the perfect place to store them.

It's also where some aftermarket companies store an air compressor.

I think it's useful to have storage everywhere.
Wouldn't care if it isn't there, but instead of simply saying I personally don't care its gone, I'd rather ask if anyone knows why?

Just another cost savings move by Toyota. Delete the storage box/cover and multiply the cost savings by roughly 250,000 Tacoma’s produced in a year.

Yes. The cutout. You throw the old box away.
If you don't have the mounting flange it could be an issue.
That area is valuable real estate with the box. Sucks they removed it.

I believe someone on here was trying to make a Pelican Case work, not sure what size. I think they’re made in Central Mass so easy to come by around here.

Several folks have made space for the cubby. It isn't hard but as I own a 2019 and Toyota deleted it, I have found other places for space.

Eventually I MAY cut in there but to be honest there is way more space than I realized and am going that direction.

Would I have liked to have it????

Probably but the space is still there and the original cubby space would be modded anyhow.
