If the thread question exists sorry, is there a wiring hack that will allow you to run the factory fog lights when the brights are in use? If not maybe one of the wiring harness Gurus can figure it out.

    Thanks,

On my 2017 when driving on the highway I always have my fog lights on and regular lights. Just last night I was driving and had to use the brights, the icon for the dogs still stayed on, regular lights switched to hi beams. Hope that makes sense?

It's against the law in most every state. That's why all cars are wired that way. And yes . . . there is a thread here somewhere about it.

There are electrical gremlins in the way (possibly legal gremlins as well).. Caribe has it figured out but it is quite involved.
I swapped the fogs out for Squadrons and then wired them in with the highbeams as driving lights.
Don't get much fog around here.

There is a mod that requires modifications to the fog light relay (bending the power prong) and then porting continues Acc power to the relay so the fog light switch on the column in the cab will actuate the lights no matter what other lights are on. As pointed out it is illegal in most states to drive with fogs and brights on at the same time. I installed some new KC fogs and was going to do this mod, but I've decided to hold off for awhile and ponder if it's really necessary since the fogs can be actuated with all but the brights on or by themselves.

Edit to add: the KC lights are REALLY bright!

Kind of an expensive option but I got the Baja Designs Squadron fog replacements and instead of wiring to the stock harness I wired direct to my Switch Pro. I have them and my light bar set to trigger on with my brights but can also turn them on manually too.

I could help if there was a decent, even a 1/2 decent wiring diagram . The factory one sucks. As it appears now there isn't any index for more than 44 pages!

The power path should be something like Battery, Key On, light switch lo beam on ditch light switch On, Hi beam relay cut out relay, and you would by pass that and do what you do with the law.

Me? If I wanted something like that I would add in my own circuit straight from the battery with at least a in line fuse and maybe a relay, to lamps of one sort or another behind the grill .

No room in the 3rd Gen relay slot for a bent pin. There's a barrier.

I guess you'd need to dremel that down.

The job on the 2nd Gen doesn't match what needs to be done on the 3rd Gen.

How so. Relays are in different position but it seems like you still simply port acc power to the power prong on the relay. Maybe I'm missing something.

There's a reason you're not supposed to do that. Overlighting the foreground with your fog lights forces your iris to contract which effectively limits how far you can see with your highs.

This be a very simple solution, but you must remember to turn them OFF.

Pull the relay, bend the tab, cut/dremel the barrier, connect terminal, run wire to cab, cut blue on connector, splice.

I just recently completed this mod just using a relay and tapping into some wires. This setup turns the fog lights on with the high beams switch.

I did the fog light on on my '06 Taco. I remember bending a prong on an electronic component and then jumping two locations with a piece of copper wire with a 5A fuse. You gotta manually push the button to turn the fogs off when you park, or else the engine will go into diagnostic mode and turn them on randomly for a few minutes at a time. First time it happened, I thought someone was trying to steal my truck out of my driveway! I'll open the fuse box and snap a pic next time I get a chance...
