2013-2015 fail commonly as well. But in that cool deal, you break down, and wait for backordered parts, then PAY a fuck ton for them.

The shutdown purge helps I'm sure. But the valve set still corrodes often on the 2013.

I did the UNI filter mod last year and received the letter in the mail saying that my SAI was covered if it decided to fail. No issues tho with SAI or shifting though

Find me a 2013+ that failed due to moisture corrosion like the 2012's? All of the 2013+'s i have seen were due to foam filters degrading, breaking off fins of the pump which mess the valves up.

oh WOW. Thanks for all the inputs. This is way more than what I've expected. Though I don't understand the majority of it but I'll keep re-reading and eventually I think I'll understand what y'all are saying here :smack::smack:

So what does SAI stand for? Short-ram air intake?

My 2012 has had no issues shifting. As for other issues; replaced fan resistor, had the bed bang issue, and just had to replace a front directional bulb. All easy fixes. Other than that the truck has been trouble free.

    Secondary Air Intake(pump) = SAI - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...you-own-a-tacoma-you-should-read-this.449563/

This is what most of us have done to our SAI in an effort to prevent damage/headache

There are a lot of examples of 2013-2015 valve sets corroding with the foam intact or already removed and replaced with the uni filter. I know because I've been dreading this repair on my 2012 for a few years and I've been watching multiple threads on the topic. (Until I received the warranty enhancement letter.)

I'm not going to go looking for examples because it doesn't matter. If thinking your 2013 SAIS with uni-filter mod is invincible helps you sleep at night, then I support that. In any case I hope your truck lives a long life with no SAIS problems.

Oh i know its absolutely not, but its in a much better place than the 2012. I have also mitigated problems due to SAI issues with HPTuners.

Yes, his is a 2013 or a 2014 I believe. The 2012 doesn't have the SAI cover, whereas the 2013-2015 should. I don't have one, but if you end up wanting one:

105k No issues. I do all my own maintenance every 5k though. I suggest you do the uni filter mod and save your old parts... Then do the rear diff breather mod. Then do the rear seat stain mod.. It does not have to be in any order.

I have a 12 and the sai valves crapped the bed at 30k. Replaced them myself since at the time there was no help from toyota. Did it again at 60. Right after I replaced them and tossed the reciepts I got a letter from toyota addressing the issue. Lucky me(sarcasm). Stay clear of those pedal commanders, I had one and it fried my ecu. Friggen things are not cheap, would've been close to 2 grand to replace. Thanks to a friend inside toyota I finally really did luck out. He got me a new one free (I didnt ask, he didnt tell) that is reflashed to include the purge time. Ive since ditched the pedal commander and when I shut down early I can hear the pump run for a while. But I offroad almost as much as pavement pound and never had any shifting issues at all. With all of that I still love my truck

Oh and I too did the uni filter mod for the pump and relocated the rear diff. Inexpensive and easy.
