Look over on the passenger side of the engine, leaking oil will be dripping around the PS Pump.

Damn. I bet you will not leave with everything you came in with. Like various caps, cable ties, push pins, maybe even a bolt or two.

Looking at those pics make a great point for a timing belt vs a chain. :crapstorm::boink:

This problem has been ongoing since 2007 with the 2GR and they still throw the FIPG in there. Looks like it's the EXACT same seep point since 2007. Timing belt is a pain in the wallet if you do it every 90k miles, $750 at the dealer with water pump.

What's FIPG? So you're for the chain or against it?

Liquid gasket, as opposed to something like a head gasket.

I'm usually in favor of a chain, but this 3.5l 2GR appears to have some continual problems. It's not the chain's fault though, appears it's just poor gasketing.

Thing is, a belt replacement is cheap, if you have a shitty chain design it's $2600 out of warranty.

I didn't have a problem with the 22re chain, although the tensioner was going out at about 170k miles, no leaks though. The 2.7l chain in the '97 went 110k miles, no leaks. The 4.0l I only had it 27k miles.

Apparently whatever Toyota is using isn't all that great. A quick Google search shows the same leak point since 2007.
