I'm looking at scoring a deal on a 2019 DCSB OR 4x4 with Premiun & Tech Packages with the impending 2020s coming out. I don't personally need Android Auto, the new headlights and grille, etc I don't think, so hoping I can get an extra sweet deal on some old stock. I'm out in Phoenix, AZ for what it's worth. Anyone have an idea on what a good deal would look like on this vehicle given my needs? is $35k OTD entirely too optimistic as the gentleman above experienced? Does Toyota budge on vehicles when a facelifted model is about to debut?

From my research experience (including in Arizona), no dealers were willing to go below $38k OTD for a DCSB OR 4x4. And that was with bare bones accessories.

However this was back in April so maybe things have changed considering the 2020s are coming out or maybe there are better dealer incentives, but I would say yes $35k OTD is too optimistic.

Thanks for your reply man. Trying to get all the facts straight before I go in to negotiate. I'm going to be putting a good chunk down on it, so maybe that would help (roughly $10k). I just don't want to insult them straight out of the gate.

Camelback and Bell Road Toyota were the two most competitive in your area. Good luck!

I've already negotiated once at Big Two on Gilbert Rd on the Gilbert/Chandler border. Do you have any experience with them? I'm in the east valley FWIW.

Nope, I live in San Diego, CA. I was negotiating with only those two dealerships through email.

    It's complicated.
Adding mine, from a purchase made on June 29.

2019 Tacoma OR 4x4 DCLB, Premium Offroad & Technology Packages, floor matts/sill protector, and Toyota OEM rubber mats: MSRP of $42,378 paid $36,823 OTD*

(*did not pay sales tax b/c my home state doesn't have it.)

Good to know. About $6k off of msrp. With tax it would be a little above $39k otd. Good price.

This seems like a sweet deal. I paid almost exactly the same number ($500 less) without the premium package but with tax OTD. Didn't want leather seats anyway!

Still negotiating but it's looking like the best I can find right now is roughly $39,400 OTD for a TRD OR 4x4 with Tech and Premium packages. Mind you I'm in AZ so taxes factor into that, but I feel I can do better than that. Thoughts? I'd really like to scoop something for under $38k OTD, and am willing to travel anywhere on this half of the country to make it happen. I already used the Amex Truecar purchase plan to get some of the negotiating out of the way.

If you are willing to drive, I would look at the dealers in Denver and Colorado Springs. Was almost going to buy from Colorado Springs but got a better deal in Omaha. Flew there and drove back.
Paid 32,157 for mine plus taxes and tags. Even after all my expenses and ttl I was under 35k. Tech only no premium package. No other extras. Got all that and more after for under a 1k

Mountain States Toyota, in Denver. Ask for William Freytag--he's the internet sales guy. Tell him that Richard from Oregon says hi.

    My purchase on June 29.
2019 TRD OR 4x4 DCLB, Premium & Tech Packages, floor & sill protectors, Toyota OEM rubber mats: $36,823 OTD.

Not bad, that's your OTD price but I assume you'd also be registering it up in Oregon where you don't have to pay sales tax? From what I understand, in AZ I will still have to pay sales tax as well as Arizona's Vehicle Licensing Tax (please someone correct me if I'm wrong). So ultimately I've been quoted $36,430 at best less licensing fees, tax, and tags. I guess the price you pay for living in AZ?

Still trying to get them down to $35k MSRP. It's a lofty goal, but I'm a patient man...

No sales tax, correct. (Oregon makes up for it by having the 2nd highest income tax rate in the country: 9% - 9.9%, and is always cooking up new taxes and calling them fees.) The Crooks in Salem created a "privilege tax" on new vehicles purchased: one-half of one percent. And no, I'm not kidding, that's exactly what those cretins have named it.

My OTD was by far the best quote I received--well worth the fly & drive (though I'll never fly that crappy airline again.) The long bed is an additional ~$800, and for me, a must-have. The dealership was selling the short bed version of the same vehicle, with the same package configurations, for $36k even; and they were flying off of the lot!

If there's a single day of the year when you'll be able to make that sweet deal, it'll be September 30th; the last day of the last quarter, before new vehicles arrive.

    Good luck.

These OTD prices are very hard for me as I don’t know taxes and fees others are paying in other states. And every premium tech package seems to have another grand of add ons, at least here in so ca.

If you travel to another state to buy a truck, the state's tax rate is irrelevant since you pay taxes in the state that you register your truck in. So even if I were to drive to Oregon to buy a truck (no sales tax) and drive it back to California where I live, I will still end up paying the 7.75% tax on it when I register the vehicle.

Since that is unavoidable, spend your efforts negotiating their dealer fees and make sure they don't hide any other "accessory or dealer" fees before you make the trip.

$36.8k is sale price not otd. Otd includes tax title and license fees. As an Oregon resident $0 tax is very nice. How much is your title and licensing fees?
Your dealer gave you $4600 off of the truck and the $1k rebate. Sweet.

In CA title license can be $800 to $1000 alone.

    True.
Bunk claim of $36.8k otd made it sound like he got $9 off of his $42k msrp. In CA we have to add about 10% in tax title and license fees to our final purchase price.
$33.5k purchase would equal the $36.8k otd price.
In CA Bunk’s $36.8k purchase would be about $40.5k otd.
As people can see it’s a big difference.

I tried to purchase from one dealer on Sunday. I was looking for $3800 off of msrp. They were $3k high. Then they took $1k off. Then they lowered my interest rate. Games. I walked!

Going tomorrow to finalize a deal at another dealer. Offered $4400 off at this one. The problem is they only have the more expensive options. Msrp is about $39k, paying $34.6k or $38.4k otd.
