I am having a hard time deciding between a Tacoma or Tundra. The main reason for concern is I tow a bass boat(approx 4100 lbs) about every weekend or so. How would the Tacoma tow this on a regular basis, without putting strain the truck?

Also there would beat least one trip to Canada year with it.

    Any advice will be appreciated

    Thanks Kenneth

Next question is, can the Tacoma get the loaded trailer up a wet boat ramp?

A taco will pull your boat just fine. If you have 4wd you’ll never have to worry about slippery or icy launch ramps. Sounds like you primarily want a truck for towing. That being the case I’d go for a full size truck, either a Tundra or a Ford F-150 eco-boost. For towing you’ll be much better off over the long run with a full size truck. I tow my 3500 lb boat often with my Taco , no problem but I use it for a lot more than towing. It’s my everyday truck and I use it a lot to get into remote places to hunt and fish. Again a Taco will tow your boat just fine but for towing and long trips you’ll be happier with a full size.

Fully agree with this. My wife uses our 2013 Taco to pull a horse trailer almost every weekend. The loaded trailer weighs around 3500 lb, and the Taco can certainly tow it fine, but it is a large and frequent strain on a truck that (in my mind) wasn't designed to be a frequent and regular tow vehicle. Occasional towing, no problems whatsoever for a Taco.

If towing is an important factor in your vehicle, then go with a truck designed for towing. :) Had we known that we'd be using a truck for lots of towing, we would have purchased a Tundra. We may eventually upgrade to a Tundra once it gets a major redesign to bring it up to par with the new Taco technologies.

A lot of people knock Tacoma for towing, but they expect to pull a full load up and down hills, at highway speeds, not feel a thing and keep the same gas mileage. If you are more reasonable than that then Taco is fine for towing.

From where, Florida or North Dakota?

The Taco can tow that weight just fine, as long as it's just that weight. If you head to Canada, what else are you taking? 3 more people, camping gear, extra stuff for the boat, etc.? That's going to make the load quite a bit more, you'd be better off with the bigger truck, if you can afford the difference. I've towed a Honda Civic on an 18' flatbed with my Taco, together they weighed about 4750 pounds, and it was hard to tell it was back there during cruise. Starting was slower, and you noticed it on steep hills, but I was pleasantly surprised how well the truck did. That said, a full-size will have much more headroom, and in the long run give you a better ride with something tied to the back of it.

This may sound a little sarcastic but it's truly not this just seems to come up alot. The Tacoma is a smaller truck it's made to tow smaller loads at least in my mind. Got a full size load? Get a full size truck right?
