Went and did some exploring this past sunday. Did about 100 mi offroad in the High Unita's. I had a general plan, but I kind of winged it by looking at my Delorme Atlas, Backcountry Navigator App for the phone, and some forest service maps that were downloaded to the phone. Trails were either extremely dusty or had some pretty good mud/ water pits. Some sections had mud ruts (dry now) but the ole taco was able to use that long travel articulation.

I also made it to the 'L-Shape' portion of the state. This is this southwest most corner of Wyoming.

Some pics of my skyline drive trip last week. I took it from Hwy 6 in clear creek to I-70 offroad. This was about 80mi offroad.

You will have to call them. I actually gave them drawings years ago and I told them to make some changes as necessary. The cage is about 95% of the drawings I gave them.

The truck crawls like a tractor in 4 lo. My top speed on the freeway decreased and I hover around 2700-3000 rpm at 65-70 mph. I have the 6-spd manual, so I am not sure what the experiences of others are with the v6 auto's. I don't think I plan on getting 35's so the gearing will work for me. Also, if I did upgrade to 35's, I think that ratio with the tires will put me back around stock.

It's a typical toyota, high freeway RPM's while doing 55-65. Just put on some tunes and drive!

Also, my odometer shows about 10k in extra miles vs. what I actually have. The gear ratio with the tires makes my ODO read higher when compared to GPS. I think it's about 7-10% higher vs. stock. I calculated it a while ago. There is an inline- calibrator by hypertech but I am not sure if it just adjusts the ODO or the speedo as well. The thing is like $300 for this little unit. I have thought about making some sort of Vehicle Display that would be all digital or something. Maybe take something from a 2006 honda civic and adapt it to a tacoma. **Big dreams here.** Knowing myself, I may just keep it simple and just leave it with the mis-calibrated ODO.

Just got new gears and went for the test drive today and contemplating the hypertech as well since my shit is SO OFF. I also have a 6 speed but went 4.88s with my 34" tires. I knew I'd be stupid overgeared and my speedo/odo off, but it's a whole 20% of lol. I'll be going 45 and my speedo will read 55. Anyways, gears are awesome.

Yea, I wish you could calibrate it with a snap-on scanner like you can with Jeeps. C'mon toyota. There is a software program called RealDash for Android, IOS, and windows. It reads and displays all the stuff from the OBDII port. I was thinking about getting this for an android tablet that is mounted in the dash where my normal gauge cluster is. There would be some 3d printing involved in order to hold the tablet where the factory gauge cluster is attached. This would give me a digital dash and could fix my ODO / speed issue. Ill let you know if I go down this route. It may be more trouble than its worth.

That’d be neat! For now this is my solution. Still want a hypertech though.

I changed my mud flap configuration. It consists of two parts; a rigid plastic cutout and a piece of EPDM that is attached via some stainless machine screws.
    It seems to work better.

So I have finally switched from using my PowerTank to installing a Compressor for filling up tires. Here in Utah, it is getting more difficult to get my C02 tank refilled. All the places want to do the exchange. I have a anodized tank, and I am not going to just "exchange" it. When I lived in SoCal, I would take my power tank to any local Keg shop to get it refilled. Turns out, Kegs are somewhat illegal in this state unless you have a liquor license. I have tried various welding supply shops but they still want to do an exchange.

So about 6 months ago I managed to pick up an ARB dual compressor for $400 (new). That is nearly $200 from the listed price. I have dealt with the single version of the arb compressors in the past. The single takes A LONG TIME to fill up 33's. It seems like a lifetime on a 37. So If I was going to get rid of my power tank, I wanted something that had a high CFM so it doesn't take me 20 min to air up at the end of the adventure.

For a while I have been debating how to mount the compressor. Many mounts wont work for my year taco since it is a 2011 6-spd manual. I stumbled upon Slee offroad, and their mount worked great for my year taco. The bracket, relocates the Power steering Resi, and allows you to install the compressor on its side next to the Washer Fluid Resi.

I also purchased the ARB manifold and tire fill-up kit. Although I don't have any lockers, they recommend using the manifold since the compressor gets extremely hot. I also wanted to future proof the install in case I replace the factory E-locker with an air locker.

Since I have an Spod, I was able to just hook part of the dual compressor harness directly to one of my open relays.

I have the same mount and compressor, and couldn't be happier.

Also in regards to the speedometer solution we were talking about earlier, I have a solution that's only $85 and retains the factory cluster. I'll get off my ass and do a write up real quick and link it in here.

Yep. Once you get it calibrated it’s dead on. Up to 70 mph, verified with Gps, it’s good. Haven’t been any faster.

For odo, plugged in my route to work on my gps (25 miles) and it rang up 25 on the odo. If it’s not perfect it’s close enough.

Did some wheelin today and then got to use my compressor. It is nearly as fast as using my C02 power tank while filling up my 33's. My dad has the single version of that compressor in his Jeep. It takes FOREVER to add 20 psi to a 37.. I am impressed with the performance so far!

It’s a kick ass compressor. Everyone I know with the single wants the dual!

For calibration of the Dakota, on hyper tech website, you can download their software used to calibrate their units. Basically use it as a calculator and input your tire size and gears, and it gives you your correction number. Mine was 0.821. That’s the easy way to calibrate it, by just taking that number and entering it into the Dakota

My truck will barely do 70mph with the gears so I think it will be good. Thanks for posting that. I will put that in the truck this year!
