37’s are mounted and the truck is streetable! Firewall will be getting tubbed ASAP and I currently have a tundra rack from basikbiker en route

2008 TRD off road DCSB 4wd

Purchased 12/15/17 126k milesfor $18k (1-owner) who took very good care of it. (Thanks dude!)... but now it’s my turn and I’m VERY PICKY about what goes on my truck... so Let’s get rid of the spacer lift & 18” KMC rockstars. My motto for the build is (SIMPLE x EFFECTIVE). I don’t put crap on or in my truck that I don’t need or use. I like things that way. When I camp, I use a ground tent & a Coleman stove. The simpler, the better IMO.




1/27/21:
- 5:29 nitro gears with rear ring & pinion REM/Cryo treatment. All gear set work done by Legend Zuk (Ken Francisco).
- front selectable Harrop/Eaton E-Locker


Front squish/mods:

• Marlin crawler LCA frame brace kit
• Custom diy tucked front winch tray bumper / frame chop kit with crossmember relocation and new skid plate from @WarFab Armor
• Bilstein 5100 + OME 885 coils —- 1/2” poly strut top spacer on DS & 1/4” on PS
• BILSTEIN 8112 zone control internal bypass coilovers w standard 600lb springs installed 09-2022
• Swaybar went missing, cant find it
• Total chaos uniball UCA
• Wheelers superbumps (3/8 superbump spacer added during interim before firewall tubbing)
• Total chaos weld on spindle gussets (with swaybar option) welded by Liquid Torch
• Alpine Designs Cab Mount Relocation kit
• WELDS TACO front diff reinforcement kit welded on frame crossmember

Rear squish:

• One-off super custom “chop the wrong leaf spring end” mod. Done to shorten the leaf that gets hung up on my stock leaf hanger lip... only problem is you have to chop the correct leaf for it to be effective.
• Archive Garage Hammer Hangers with cross tube
• DIY OEM shackles tapped with grease fittings for the Archive poly bushings
• Archive garage poly bushings placed into stock shackles (because stock bushings bind and don’t fully droop out) thanks Randy!
• OME Dakar standard duty leaf pack
• Bilstein 7100 14” short body shocks with 255/70 valving
• BAMF shock relocation kit
• Wheelers U-bolt flip kit & superbumps
• Wheelers SS extended brake lines (black)
• Archive garage ABS sensor skids

Wheels:

(5) - FN wheels Five Star 16x8 -25 anthracite light gunmetal SOLLD

(5) Battleborn Gatekeeper 17x9 -38

(4) SCS Ray10 brushed bronze 17x9 -38

BORA 0.75” hub centric wheel spacers in rear only (for shock relocation kit clearance)

5 - Cooper Discoverer STT PRO 285/75/16 (SOLD)

5 - Milestar Patagonia MT 315/75r16 (SOLD)

5 - Yokohama GEOLANDAR MT 37x12.50x17

Armor:

• SOS off-road concepts bolt-on sliders. With kickout & filler plates. (Rattle canned)
• WARFAB front ultra high clearance chop kit skid plate ribbed & welded up DIY
• DIY Fabbed 1/4 winch plate with clevice shackle mounts and 5 gusset plates, with WARFAB front chop kit
• SOS off-road concepts mid and transfer case steel skids (rattle canned metallic matte nickel)
• SOS mid skid chopped / re welded leading edge to join up with front WARFAB skid.
• Custom high clearance tube bumper fabricated by GMG fabrication (Joe Guiliano)
• Trail Gear rear diff cover welded on

Lighting:

• Baja Designs S2 sport ditch pods driving combo clear lenses - mounted on CBI ditch light brackets
• Headlight retrofit with Acme SUPER H1 projectors, Morimoto 4300k 35w HID kit with precision bulb holders
• Rear reverse lights LED swap
• AMAK rock lights (14 installed, all over the damn place for night time AZ wheeling *no step on snake*
• Amazon 4 cell light pod fog lights

Misc

• 2.5” cut out of each fender to give those 35’s room to stuff
• DIY rear diff breather mod vented to the drivers side bed box

• Beveled CMC done by Joe Giuliano (GMG Fabrication) / replaced by alpine CM relocation kit
• Weight reduction/no fender liners

• Exhaust chopped and dumped under the bed for droop clearance and crawler points
• DIY latches added to secure bed box storage cubby covers
• MiddTown Co Quick release fire extinguisher mount at passenger seat rail
• Desert does it drivers seat lift risers
• License plate relocated to tailgate with LED pigtail bolts/tag lights
• Quick release push pin hood latches

Engine/drivetrain

• AFE pro-dry, drop in air filter (gone)
• SPECTRE autozone intake filter slapped on the end of factory intake tubing (thanks to no fender liners)
• ULTRAGAUGE II mounted just to the left of steering wheel to monitor vitals (mainly trans temps)
• Exhaust reroute to behind the transfer case instead of under it
• Magnaflow 18” muffler
• Tailpipe chop / dump over axle for rear flex clearance and crawler-boi points.

Recovery:

• Factor 55 hitchlink
• Smittybilt X20 12,000lb synthetic waterproof winch with F55 Ultralink & F55 fairlead
• Recovery straps, shackles, Shovel, serious toolbag/socket set breaker bar tools, etc etc
• Spare CV and tie rod both chilling under the back seat ready to be used as a backup

Comms:

• GARMIN IN REACH mini satellite messenger/GPS/tracking/SOS unit
• Uniden CB radio hard mounted to back of center console, coax plumbed to Cali raised LED antenna mount above drivers side tail light.

Exterior:

• All chrome badges/emblems removed except grille toyota emblem
• Front grille chrome surround delete with PLASTI DERP
• Tailgate “T O Y O T A” vinyl in matte black
• License plate relocated to tailgate
• Pizza patch on headliner

My son is almost 3 & loves every aspect of trucks. Big trucks, cement trucks, delivery trucks.. you name it. So anytime he and I share a truck moment is a special time! He helped me put some stainless steel bolts in my license plate frame the other day.

Did you NOT see my leaf pack? I guarantee you no one has a random chopped leaf on their leaf packs. That alone brings my build up there with the one-off fully fabbed built rigs.

 

I’m just jealous cause mines been a pavement princess since the 35s don’t mine me!

Edit: and I don’t have a professional camera man!

 

Why’d you take out the AFE pro dry filter? Too much dust in the desert for a high flow?

 

I took it out because I had to add a filter at the end of my intake tubing and make my own SRI after pulling fender liners for 35’s. You can see it here. It has an additional little filter sock over it

Are you gonna do a thread write up on how to chop a leaf pack?

AKA - I’m not getting enough volume to warrant a leaf-chop writeup. Once I gain some more popularity I might consider a YouTube walk around of my specific DIY leafchop job. @BVita

 

Makes sense. I hadn’t considered the implications of pulling the fender liners, but now it seems obvious with the intake right there.
