How easy is it to swap the head unit from a 2019 sienna to a 2019 Tacoma. My parents have a sienna xle if I’m not mistaken and it looks like the same size as the one in my Tacoma. Would it work? Would I be able to enjoy Apple car play?

There is a good chance it would work.

I bought an aftermarket head unit with full android, and support for android auto/apple carplay, which is designed for the Sienna, and it fit on my tacoma perfectly and it was pretty much plug and play.

Pulling the head unit from the Tacoma is a pretty easy task. It's likely not too hard on the Sienna either, so see if your parents would let you check.
You may or may not have to get an adapter to retain the steering wheel controls, could be the same plug. The only thing I can think of that probably would not function would be vehicle settings through the head unit, but that may not be a big deal to most people anyway.

Right. If I could pick up car play then not having the vehicle info wouldn’t be a problem to me. The good thing is the head unit in the sienna has never been used. They bought the sienna about 4 months ago and has 33 miles on it

On the 2020 Tacoma page @AKSig88 said he worked on the Entune 3.0 unit and said it will mostly plug and play but would need a jumper wire. Check with him he may know if the Sienna is also the same.

Actually I just realized it’s a 2018 sienna. The buttons on the sides are not touch screen. I’m thinking it still will work. Anybody know if the 3.0 entune has to be done at the dealer? I roughly remember doing a big over the air update on the sienna about a month and a half ago. I wasn’t thinking about this a month ago. I was trying to ignore my Tacoma’s head unit buuuuuuuut I don’t like it. I tried to. I like keeping things stock but truthfully it isn’t great.

Did you get anywhere with this? I’m genuinely curious if we can swap a Sienna unit into our Tacomas - looking at the back of the units it appears maybe not since they connections don’t match up.

Aftermarket heads will integrate just fine. You'll gain functionality, not lose it.

You probably want an interface kit for a compatible head, like the iDataLink Maestro, just so you can monitor temps, torque, and pressures, change features you can't otherwise alter w/o TechStream, etc.

I've seen a few people here pick the Kenwood DDX series because it integrates so well. The 6906S was my pick for awhile, then I decided what's there is good enough for now. I'll build a custom solution next winter when it's too cold to play outside.
