I dont think water will run down inside unless you were squirting water toward it.
I also bent the metal lip down some where the seal goes with a rubber mallet.

Yes and no. You have to be really good with the dremel in order to open up that honeycomb and make it look half decent (i.e like it was not a total hack job) also, there is only so much space you can work with in the actual scoop part of it itself before you start messing with its mounting integrity. I made a series of 5 large holes and 2 large rectangular windows using my dremel with a cutting disk as well as a 3/8 drill bit to make the holes large enough allow for some decent heat extraction out of the scoop. It's not as simple as opening the honeycomb if you want to do it right.

Are we still talking about AC sucking?

I'm pretty sure my AC system is making me sick, because there's mold somewhere in the system and the Lysol trick doesn't work at all.

Are you just spraying it into the vents?

Try something like this before you dig any deeper. This creates a massive foam that expands inside the vents and cleans it out. Make sure you remove the cabin filter before you use this.

We used to use this on Police cars and Inspector cars and first responder vehicles when I was a Shop Manager.

Wouldn't it be tapping into the black wire and the white wire to run the resistor in parallel to the Thermistor?
The resistor could be installed at the plug between the two pins?

    Thanks

Yes, you can either install it across the white and black wires on the dash harness side or you can strip back the black sheathing and install it on the thermistor side of the plug. Either way it needs to go in parallel with the evaporator temperature sensor.

try ammonia it kills mold spores ... And to the hood venters I did this to my 80series years ago and it works good but when it rains it would make the windshield fog up really bad . so bad it was annoying and took spacers off.

Are these the two wires you're talking about? My AC sucks, and it's about that time of year again. I'm glad i found this thread.

I'm done with poor AC performance at low speeds. Gonna take action soon. Electric fan and window tint hopefully make time to get done by end of August.

I put a fan on my 2013 it sure helped in slow traffic and when sitting at a drive in window.

Okay so I found over time that there are multiple ways of tackling this issue.

The first thing I found is that heat retention under the hood is horrible on the system and if you remove the rear most weatherstrip under the hood at the cowl it helps a ton in increasing airflow.

The second thing I found is that lack of proper insulation inside the cabin is a huge contributor to the AC system not working s well as it should. Something as simple as a well made windshield reflective heat shield which blocks out the majority of the sun from soaking the interior during the hottest can lower interior temps some 20-30 degrees. Left on while sitting in the truck it allows the AC system to have to work less to cool down all of that interior space and the system stays cooler longer before it starts to fall off in temps a little bit.

Additionally I would be willing to bet that some nice sound deadner material like Dynamat, Stinger, or Noico in the variety which is meant to repel away heat strategically placed on the roof would be IMMENSELY helpful as well. I am not at that point yet, however, though I would like to do that before next summer.

The third thing and this is a bonus for Sport hood owners. In effort to further allow for underhood heat soak, you can open up the slit or the faux grill on your hood to allow for some venting. It's a tedious process and it sucks, but any little bit helps.

Combined, I have found this triple combo to be highly effective for me in maximizing cooling capabilities inside of the cabins while the truck is in park in a stationary spot on a disgustingly hot day. :)
