Awesome! Take your time. I did mine and rushed the first time and got fog inside (paint hadn’t fully cured before resealing). I redid them and took my time and they’ve been solid for a few years.

@CygnusX191 @dean_park, determined the mystery phone was an AT&T device so I left it in the hands of the AT&T store in Fenton. Hopefully they can get it home.

For everyone else, pics of the day to come later tonight or tomorrow.

    Story time.

Here is southern IL we are surrounded by thousands of acres of the Shawnee National Forest. One of the main Ranger stations is in the town I live and work in. We also do a lot of boundary surveys for the USFS for timber sales.

I stopped by the Ranger station on Friday and picked up a Motor Vehicle Use Map. Shows vehicle trails all over several counties near me. We have been trying to find some easier trails for a few friends to go with us. Going out west and using those USFS roads got me itching to try the same here.

Today I took off and started searching out these USFS roads per that MVU map. Out of the 9 I picked to search, 6 weren't even recognizable from the main road, 2 were now horse trails, and only 1 was accessible but only for about a half mile.

Really is a shame that they have let all these grow up. No trail number markers or signs at any of the trailheads. I would try to talk to the Ranger station workers, but I can already hear them saying "we just dont have the funding".

Ask if they have any of the older ones left over and compare them. It’s common practice to omit trails from new maps to lower traffic volumes.

Also compare against what you can download and use in mobile devices from usgs.gov. They have a nationwide database that you can sort through and download GeoPDFs of.

But if you get a group together rangers usually let the group clear trails. Or at least here in MO. Should be the same there.

They're from an OR, and my stock Hitachi shocks and such are stiff (road handling, sport, blah blah) so maybe.

Thanks for the tip. I am painting them black probably followed with getting rid of the other chrome on the truck.

I painted them with rustoleum high heat because I figured it was a good precaution against heat from the light, but after I sprayed them I realized the instructions say to fully cure you need to "Bake at 250 for 30 minutes then allow 30 minutes to cool. Bake at 400 for 30 minutes then allow 30 minutes to cool. Bake at 600 for 30 minutes then allow 30 minutes to cool. Caution do not exceed heat tolerance of the least heat tolerant part.":annoyed:

they are currently at 250 in the oven but I dont want to get much/any above 300 with them to cure the paint... Anyone have any tips or ideas to make sure it is cured without melting the housings?
