Out of curiosity I did this and was pleasantly surprised how much cleaner everything is after.

 

that’s to be expected, but did you gain any performance from it?

 

I dunno...maybe 25HP?

Haven't used the AC since.

 

I mixed up my own home brew. Mr. Clean Floor Cleaner, vinegar and a dash of Dawn detergent. Sprayed it on, let it sit for a bit and hosed it off with a nozzle-less hose. A/C is working like a champ.

On another note, to clean windows around the house use; water, vinegar and a few drops of Dawn in a bucket of warm water. No magic mixing ratio’s as it always works.

 

I use Simple Green cut 50/50 with water in a pump sprayer to help clean my wheels, tires and engine. It works great on the A/C condenser/radiator/oil cooler coils too. Very gentle. Doesn't strip or harm anything.

I also pull my grill. It makes the job so much easier, plus you can get a much better cleaning as you can reach more area.

 

-Cleaned my AC condenser coils. Actually Saw a little improvement, although mine were not that dirty.

I cleaned mine this morning, and when I started my truck several hours later it dumped a ton of water out. I’m guessing there was still water in the coils and the fan blew it out the front? Just curious if anyone else has had that happen?

Yup water stays in the radiators pretty good... then on startup when the fan clutch is on it pulls ALLL of it out. I always recommend washing anything in and around the motor when cold. Then startup the vehicle shortly after and do a full heat cycle so water doesnt have time to get into things.

 

I had this happen too. I figured a lot of it was sitting in the skid plates. I did hear the fan suck some in.

 

This was pretty awesome. I cannot believe how much mud and dirt came out of my radiator, my AC feels so much cooler now.

 

Isn't simple green harmful to aluminum? Causes corrosion or something?

I cleaned the coils on my boy's Tacoma last weekend. After rinsing everything down, I told him to stand by the front wheel and stick his head under the hood to "make sure everything looked good" when I started it. Scared the shit out of him! Lol.
