@crashnburn80 Still happy with this setup? I need to replace my rotors and pads. Was thinking of doing the same. Just want to double check. Thanks!

I have grooving in my cryo StopTechs, which is a bit disappointing. I cannot really say for certain if cryo offers better resistance to wear. Since this mod my truck has gotten and even smaller supercharger pulley and better breathing CAI which opens up the top end for the supercharger. I put the extra power to use, so I also put my brakes through some good abuse. If I was staying with the stock size I'd repurchase the same rotors, though a bit undecided about the cryo. However, I'll likely be looking at a 17" wheel compatible big brake kit for the next go around.

Just received my rotors, the wait was worth the $50 I saved, pads direct from Toyota same price as Amazon. Since I have 45k on my original front pads and rotors I am going to see if I can get them to scrape haha.

GX470 Brakes fit well and are bigger but there may be other 4R large caliper compatible aftermarkets too. - I've got a set of PowerStops just waiting to get new tires to fit them under.

You've probably seen this thread but just in case not...https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...t-oem-parts-part-s-provided-installed.443656/

Look into the 5th gen TR4 2010-2015 at least which is the same as the GX460 not GX470. Issues I have heard on that one. Same pads as Tacoma calipers but the piston is 1mm bigger and the Rotors are about 19mm larger. I have a write up on it and running that setup now. Its been good but now the truck is heavy AF.

    T4R setup:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-2nd-gen-tacomas.504234/page-10#post-20336876

RR-Racing makes a kit that uses the Wilwood Aero-6 Calipers with an option for an external dust shield for better "dirt" play time. The beauty of this kit is its made to work with GX/TR4 rotors (338mm) and are easy to replace if you run into any off.

Mine arrive tomorrow so will get replacing my TR4 Calipers with the Wilwood Aero-6-DS setup. Currently running Stoptech Sport Slotted (338mm) Rotors.

Interesting. I was pretty sure they are the same calipers. They may not offer them anymore or never with the 3rd gen. 4runner and Tacoma are difference calipers but use the same pads

Can anybody confirm that these rotors can’t be turned?? Unfortunately my pads when out during a trip and the disc got scratched. “I wish I had brake sensors.”

A quick google search shows that they can be turned but nobody wants to do it in my area.

What kind of rear brake drums and shoes did you guys go with? Opened my drums this weekend, after snapping a stud off while trying to remove the damn wheel, and found maybe an 8th of an inch of shoe remaining.
Bought some of oreillys "brakebest select" for $320 (included both drums and shoe sets as well as new spring hardware). But now I'm 2nd guessing my purchase and may return if there are better options for around the same price?
