Around 22 with combined driving. If I pay attention and make an effort, it's closer to 24. Can push 26 for 200+ miles on the highway, but I think anyone can if they keep it around 60 ish (inclines depending)

Yeah but no one drives 60 for 200 miles. You’d die of boredom.

Yeah, I think you will be pleasantly surprised if this is any indication of how the final release is going to behave.

Not if you're listening to Dream Theater

Then again, if you're blasting Dream Theater, you're driving 89, Soo.....

I am about to pick up my Tacoma finally, This OV tune sounds like the BEES KNEES. My question is, should I wait to "break in" the truck a bit before I tune it? Also I am probably going to run the high octane for more powers!

Drive the stock tune so you can appreciate OVTune when you finally get it.

No ..... you don't need to wait. Just treat it like you'd normally treat a new engine.

Ordered my OVTune! Can't wait. Driving my stock tune a bit harder this week to make sure I notice the difference.

I have a 2016 w/ 65k miles. Do I need to do anything at the dealership before adding the new tune?

Depending on your ECU version, you might have to update it.

Do you know how to check this? I do my own maintenance, so I doubt it's ever been updated

Many scan tools / code readers will tell you. If nothing else when you get your kit and hook up to the truck the first time, click the identify button and it will tell you your calibration ID. Should be something like 04B11, 04B12 OR 04B13. You will need to know this to select the correct tune anyway. If a tune is not available for your ID then you have to update first. The dealer can update it, but some have had difficulty getting it done. Some people also did it themselves with Toyota TechStream.

Until you get your cable, here's some light reading about the update. 2016 MT is either 04B10 or 04B11. Either should allow you to update to 04B13 (highly recommended). IIRC, it was the 2016 AT 04B01 that required a specific OEM update to 04B02. Man, we've come a long way with the tune.

@TacoMan408, yes 04B13 is the best place to be with your ECU codebase version before flashing.OV software will tell you the version, but look in that thread for info so you can hop right on it when your stuff arrives. i suggest getting Techstream up and running. at that point you can download the. cuw file and flash away simply by clicking on the file if you have Techstream installed correctly. your truck will probably be transformed just from that.

Is the official tsb for an ecu update floating around here on tw anywhere? I would really like to get my truck on 04b13 but don't really want to mess with it myself, and theres no way my dealer will do it unless I have some ammo.
