RAAMmat BXT II Install

I just ordered enough RAAMmat BXT II to do my Taco, including roof. I was under the impression that the BXT II was installed a little differently than normal RAAMmat or Dynamat. Has anyone installed the BXT II yet and if so, any pictures?

Bump. Ill be doing this this weekend with BXT II and ensolite from Rick at RAAMmatts suggestion. All that he mentioned was shoot for 60% coverage. Not entirely sure where to focus my attention on installation.

I don't have experience with Rick's products but they seem to be fairly good stuff. It looks like it's a fairly normal mat style deadener. Just make sure the surface is clean from debris, peel the back off, and stick. Simple as that.

As for WHERE to put the deadener for the most effective results with the product you play it by ear....literally. Use the "tap test" which is what I call it. Tap on places and listed to the sound they make. If they resonate add deadener. If it's a highly structured area that doesn't resonate then don't waste deadener on those places. The center of unsupported flat panels is the most likely candidate for needing deadener.

I did the BXTII a few weeks ago. Got some pics in my gallery. Not sure if they would be any help.

It's easy. Just peel and stick. Tap test works.

 

Not to thread jack but planning a similar project @pokeng, did you do the whole cab or just doors and rear, nice setup by the way.

^Nice with the ensolite in the roof. I didn't do any up there except a little deadener. I might end up going back up there one day to add a little ensolite but I don't know how critical it is. I'd likely get the underside of the truck lined before I'd do anything else.

 

thanks, i checked out your thread and yours looks pretty good. i was interested in a BXTII install though because Rick said you only have to seal holes and then put some in the middle of larger, unsupported areas, then lay the ensolate ontop of that.

Three seperate weekends and a couple evenings, doors were the longest part having to cut lexan to cover the holes, roof was the easiest but had the most trim to remove. I ordered 2 rolls of Butyl rope and 27 sq. ft of 1/8" foam and MLV from Don at sound deadening showdown and 1 box BXT II and 3 yards of p&s ensolite from Rick at Raamat, have 1 roll of rope and 8 sheet BXT and very little of everything else left over, very happy with it. Just remember to take your time on removing trim only broke one panel release at the top of trim center column, you can pretty much take the whole inside apart with a 10, 14 mm, phillips and small flathead and panel popper for some of the stubborn clips.

 

Using that peal and stick ensolite made it so easy and really helped on rain noise, thanks for all the help you gave me.

 

Seriously man...it's the same type of product that does the same thing. Install is the same. It really just depends on how good you want it to be. I did a lot and did it well because I compete in sound comps.

I shit you not, at a local sound show last Saturday night I had a judge in my car. Volume was normal and we were talking. I interjected for a brief moment to say this.

Me - I also want to let you know the car has been thoughally sound deadened. See the car three parking spaces from us on the right with his hazard lights flashing?
Him - Yeah?
Me - "Those aren't his hazards....his alarm is going off. *rolled down the window*
