Any recommendations for local dealers of Truck Caps? Brands to look at or avoid? Also, I have a less than 1yr old bakflip tonneau cover that will be up for grabs if anyone is interested. 18 dcsb

Been a few since I plowed through the messages but glad I found this one. This is far enough out to plan for and maybe something the wife would be up for if we unloaded the kids for a grandparent weekend. We have a yak and a paddle board...gotta build the camping platform in the bed before then, and we'd be set.

They did some work on the back road, the easy way.
Once up top, you can shoot down the back easy way and hit pavement in 20 min. Or leave from the lake and be back in town in 30 min.

You should definitely have a spare that is the same size as what you're running. Even a few miles in my opinion at the weird geometry that would create would not be worth it to me. You can fit a 285/70/r17 in the factory location.

    Check this thread out: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/285-70-17-spare-tire-mod-for-2013-tacoma.284521/

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
265x70X17 is roughly 2" shorter than the 285x70X17. It would work as a spare if you don't mind being low on one corner, although I wouldn't leave it on any longer than necessary. This may help you visualize:

I see now that you have a 3rd gen. I have a 2nd and am not sure what the differences are underneath.

But this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/285-in-stock-spare-tire-location.478354/ seems to say that some people have fit them with no modification at all. Maybe you 3rd genners have a little more room under there. A few guys said it seemed close to the exhaust. If you're worried about that, even though there is a heatshield there, a little heat wrap should fix you up.

I'm in a 3rd gen with 285/70r17 Goodyear ultraterrains and the 5th is really tight, but it fits. I'll take a hammer to the tabs and planned on chopping exhaust just past the axle anyways (haven't done either so far, and have already rotated the 5th in, and one into the spare spot.

Hey all, just got back from 10 days in Italy. Heading back to school in a week or two, but anyone free to help change my rear brake lines?

I run a 255/80/17 on my truck, which is slightly taller than your 285. For my spare I run a 255/85/16 on the stock steelie, and it fits no problem after some slight tab modification with a BFH.

I have a prinsu in front and beach burner triple OG in the rear. I do like the victory fronts though.

You need them? Why what happened? Replace pads with OEM or upgrade to 4Runner kit.
