Not for 2.5

 

Im saying I trimmed alot for the 2.5, just confirming if more will need to be trimmed for 2.3

 

Anyone have before and after pics of the trimming they did for the 2.3? I cut my snout down to the silver line on the drivers side initially. Wondering how much more it's gonna take

Ahh, yes you will have to trim MORE.

 

You just have to cut further back at the actual base of the metal of the snout. The edge of it.

The part already trimmed which shows silver on the blower now, you need to take off maybe 1/8" as you put the pulley over the trimmed portion you will see what I am talking about.

 

Thanks for the clarification, that doesnt sound too painful. im gonna remove as little as possible.. If no one posts any before and after pics, ill try to do so when i get around to the install

 

You can either cut or taper it with a dremel honestly. Mine is tapered down some.

 

Ill probably taper it if that would mean less material required to be removed.

 

ah thats what I did too. Not too bad just takes some time. The rear you can do in 1-2 hours. the front is what takes the most time.

 

Still no option for the 2.5? How much risk running the 2.8 would their be with no stretch? I may just run the stock one for now in the kit but the RPM is tempting but seems all most choices are not ideal for it.

 

If you run a 2.5 you can but you would need to get yourself a "noose wrap mod" which entails buying an idler made for an Audi which I have posted on Page 1 that Billdacat8 modded and currently has working with his 2.5 pulley. I don't have access to a drill press or a path so I can not mod it as I would like to.

If you run a 2.7 or 2.8 you can as well but you will have to run a pulley wrap mod made by Roostfactor which I have posted on Page 1.

Both mods involve incorporating a wrap mod which will absorb some of the extra slack which the longer belt you will be running has.

 

I had all of mine powdercoated black by a local shop, and I found black hex screws, for a little more stealthy appearance.

 

Im running a 2.5 with no extra wrap idler. I do have the roush tensioner though. Holds 10lbs of boost at wot

 

ok got it. I was talking to Billdacat and part of holding off of the 2.5 as no access to get it machined by that time (at least not yet)

 

Did you email him for a special order?
On the website, I just selected the custom size option and put in 2.3. This was the A series M45 pulley option. Never talked to Nate so hopefully what I did works lol

 

I've done all my orders via phone. He invoices via PayPal, and a package arrives a few days later.

If you have any doubt about whether you ordered the right pulley, recommend talking with Nate.

 

Yes, i emailed him.. i did the same with the past 3 pullies i bought from him. Either that or a phone call would be good to make sure its what you need. Id probably call him if youve already placed your order

Anyone have it sent out to get machined? since it varies for each truck wanted to get an idea since it seems required to run the 2.5 pulley.

If it means anything the spark plugs I ordered on rockauto awhile ago were backordered but they still got them to me pretty quick. A week if I remember right.
