Reviving this old thread. I've had my X2 group31 for almost 2 years and it's been great.

However I now have cracks in the sheet metal of my fender well, beneath the battery. It seems thousands of miles of washboard down in Patagonia and Bolivia took a toll. Just wondering if anyone else with a larger battery in the stock location has seen stress damage in that area?

If so, what did you do about it?

Yes, others have complained of the same issue w/the 31M. I'll be going w/the 27F in hopes to try to alleviate this issue a bit.

I've had the X2 24F battery for about 3 years now (I wanted a bigger one but this was the only in stock when I NEEDED a battery). It's been great for me and have never had any issues and cranks over a little faster too. I live in Iowa where we have some pretty insane winters at times. Last winter we had 2 straight weeks that didn't get above -5F and the battery had no issues, even after sitting for 5 days outside.

I went ahead did a Ford Diode replacement to bring up the charging system voltage to the AGM batteries specs. It's been working great and as an added benefit your Halogen Bulbs will be brighter (roughly 100-200 lumens more in your headlights) if you are still running halogens.

Has anyone been able to remove the +/- small terminal post on X2 power group 31?

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I have had mine for about 3 years now. I own several Odessey batteries as well. So far this has held up like champ…and I agree on both warranty and having a person you can talk to when you need a replacement is clutch.
I killed the first X2 because I had a power draw in an FJC that I wasn’t driving. They attempted to recharge it, but I toasted it.
So they gave me a new battery even though it was a user error. They also sold me a Neg battery quick disconnect, so it wouldn’t happen again, due to the fact it sits longer than the other trucks.
    I say go with it.

Pretty sure my Grp 31 X2 is five years old now, at least 4 but I think 5. No indication of it letting up. Didn't swap any diodes.
I have noticed a crack in my driver's inner fender where one of the splash gaurd clips goes but didn't think about the weight of the battery causing it, will inspect further. Have been over some rough terrain and some long lightly maintained FS roads so the crack didn't seem out of place.

I close to 5 years on my 24F X2 and the Ford 4F2Z-14A604-AA diode from my local Ford dealer. The X2 has held up fantastic throughout all of it. It's even been left out in the winter (20F average with below 0F common) without being started or driven by my wife (even though I politely asked her to drive it once every couple weeks) when I was on a deployment for about 3 months, that happened twice. It was dead both times, hooked it up to a Harbor Freight AGM Charger with a Repair function and has been fine each time. I was really worried one of the times because it was at about 8v. But it came back around like it never even happened.
