I have an auto now but last truck was manual, the only negative was it was hard to change gears while driving drinking a beer, texting on cell, getting some love from my woman and eating fast food-Lol just kidding...maybe

Went from 18 AT to 19 MT in about 8 months time. Wish I would have gotten MT from the beginning.

No hill assist for down hill descent? It does have cancelling clutch though for climbing? Really not sure.

you may want to use 4lo just for the traction in the winter, but there's a 2lo mod available now if 4lo is hard for your driveway regarding steering.

As others have stated, reversing uphill is difficult. Other than that there are no negative in my opinion.

Plus you get a sunglasses holder.

No push button start/ smart entry on the manuals.

Loving my truck...took about 6months and 8000miles for it really smooth out, but its great now.

Maybe I should do the smart thing and drive one first. I don't understand why new ones still need a transmission ecu update. When I first got my 16 auto it would hesitate from reverse to drive for a good 6-8 seconds. Talk about embarrassing. Took it to the dealer twice before printing out the tbs from here and getting it fixed. I've never been impressed with the auto trans programming. Ect is how it should drive and then hop up to the hiest gear once at speed.

I think I would be much happier with the engine if I controlled it.

Seriously tempted by the f150. Wife has a 3.5 ecoboost explorer sport and it pulls like a freight train. But, I don't really two or haul. Backwoods roads, shooting guns, hauling dirtbikes, kayaks, flatbottom fishing boat (I don't consider this towing, am I wrong for that?)

So are you saying manual has a key to start and if you touch the handle it doesn't unlock? Please reply, that may be a deal breaker for me. If this is correct I don't get why? Might have to get the freaking auto dammit! Biting my tongue

Yes there is a key, my personal opinion of it is so that it can work in conjunction with the Clutch Start Cancel Switch.

Correct, old fashion key. Comes in handy locking and unlocking the tailgate. Im sure there are people here retrofitting push button start on manuals but doesnt come loke that.

As another stated, must have something to do with the clutch cancel start button operation. It cant be cost cause the 55,000 TRD Pros with manual trans dont have it either

EDIT: and yes no unlock just by touching handle, you need to push the unlock button
