    anyone installed a front facing camera on their sr or sr5? I see a lot of pro installs but would love to get some ideas of where to mount on the grille of an sr5 with tss

Custom sliders (1.75" HREW tube w/ 3/16" base plates). Custom front bumper and high clearance rear bumper (1/4" steel plate, 1.75" tube.) Apex 5500 winch w/synthetic line (36lbs) and required accessories for an underpowered winch (snatch blocks and extra line.) Tekonsha P3 brake controller, remote start, any-time-backup camera w/ front facing camera, Leer 100R shell (w/e-track single slot tie-down mounts for removable Yakima EasyTop.) Cat shields by CaliRaised. Husky liners, window tint, heated seat (passenger only.) Relentless bed rail brackets with QuickFists (shovel/axe/fire extinguisher.) Hondo Garage Un-holey vent mount.     I don't have a picture of the front mount location at the moment.

    I mounted the camera centered in the grill underneath an area that had been reinforced for the sensor. For this to work I had to shorten the threaded camera attach point as pictured.

    Be sure to mock up your install and take a look at the image displayed on screen before going through the trouble of routing everything. My first attempt was with a camera that couldn't be adjusted without a mirrored image and I was forced to switch it out with a different brand camera.

    Thanks! I play down on the NC coast whenever I get a chance but live in Va. Hoping the area doesn't get too flooded/battered this hurricane season.

    Well, we've been pounded by Tornados this afternoon, and the Hurricane itself is still a long ways off.

    That camera has been used with the stock head unit. You do have to have an interface to make it work though.

    As for me, I'm thinking about NOT using the stock head unit, but instead using a small dedicated monitor, similar to this:

    Maybe "butcher" was not the best choice of words. :eek:
    What I want to have is a front camera without "involving" ANY changes to the OE wiring.

    My intent is to have a isolated (except for getting power) camera and monitor that can not affect, or be affected by, any of the OE equipment.

    I can do that with a small dedicated monitor. :cool:

    Anyway, I've ordered a camera and monitor. I'll let y'all know how it turns out. :)

    I used https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/ with front camera option. I use it all the time parking in narrow parking spaces or cresting a steep driveway/ramp at slow speeds.

    Fortunately (and unplanned) the wheelbase guidelines rendered on-screen match up with the outer edges of my tires.

    The fisheye effect of the camera sure changes things, huh? o_O

    Any chance of you posting a front view of the installed camera?

    I mounted my front camera on my sport with the sr/5 grill. I’ll have to find or take pictures later.

    Could you post some pics of where you mounted your camera? I used a cheap $10 emblem mounted camera and you can’t see any of the bumper. Thinking of replacing it with something better quality and mount it where I can see some bumper.
