Driveshaft carrier bad? Opinions?

Looking for some input from you driveline Gurus out there. I’ve never liked how sloppy the driveline is in my Taco but it seems like its is getting worse, could be my imagination.

Its a 13’ Sport 4WD long bed with a 1” block lift in the rear (i know, i know). Never been thrashed off road, just turned 36k.

Does anyone think this carrier needs replacing and if so is there any better aftermarket options, yes I have used the search feature on here. I am not wanting a one piece unit as I did see threads on those. Thanks in advance.

 

She looks a little loosey goosey. Also check the u-joints. If they have no play grease them and disconnect the DS and see if they are really hard to move and kinda grindy feeling.

Thanks. I grease the u joints religiously at least every 5k or less, they are good.

 

Awesome thanks, I will check that out. Curious on the durability and longevity of those.

 

gonna be WAY better than OEM floppy doughnut. Had mine on for 50+k miles i think no problems, still hella smooth.

They still wear no matter how much you grease them. I'd check them also the little needle bearings in them are pretty anemic.

 

They are fine. I ordered the Poly carrier, I think that will solve the issue.
