Just wanted to provide some feedback on the 04A71 2.0 Beta 93 Octane file after 75ish miles. (zendesk ticket #10087)

    previous tune 1.05 FOB93

    Pros:
    - Linear power throughout the power band
    - Seems much more responsive
    - Smooth and easy to shift

    Con:
    - Throttle seems very touchy in 1st gear at low RPMs. 1.05 FOB93 had very nice low rpm throttle control (1k-1.5k). I could crawl along very easily in stop and go traffic or when offroading over uneven/loose terrain. I would never break the wheels loose or lurch forward. With 2.0 beta, if i'm crawling along at low rpms and try to give it just a little gas the truck jumps/lurches forward a bit.

Overall, its a great file and if i could have the low rpm throttle control of the 1.05 FOB file with all the other pros of this file i'd be ecstatic. That said, i will continue to run the beta as the pros definitely outweigh the one con i have so far (which may settle in as i put more miles on it). I remain impressed with the progress of each new file!

    Thanks Mat!

Im having trouble figuring out where to get in on this 04a70 2.0 beta action.

Also what is this i read about converting 04a70 to 71?

Flashed my 2018 to 04A71 before flashing beta2.0 tonight. Drove some usual routes around 15 miles. Impressed so far.

Most noticeable is how damn smooth the truck shifts. That nagging upper rpm rev hang is nearly gone.

I will data log and send info to zendesk after 50miles.

So is the update from a70 to a71 necessary prior to installing 2.0 when it comes out? If its not needed is it something that i should do?

I went from 70-71 and that alone made a decent difference,, not only that but 71 seems to get the updates before 70 ,,

Hey folks just to let you guys know I am not sure how much of the "rev hang" can be eliminated in very low RPM (under 2000) because this is when the ECU has active idle feedback so that when the RPM falls the ECU doesn't have to catch it and stumble

If you can do 2000rpm ,that would be better than 2700rpm were it is now and also if possible drop the activation from 30kmh to 25 or 20kmh ,the lower the better.

By the way your KILLING IT:thumbsup:

The 2700 RPM point is the low rpm control point of ACIS actually, not the idle control. I can send you a file that lowers this RPM even further if you want to test. The Caveat is lowering this RPM has a torque reduction effect at very low RPM and full throttle :( (under 2000).

It's funny that Toyota employs every possible hardware advantage to make power and efficiency and wraps it all together with a poopy tune.

    Thank you!

Got it this time. Maybe my email virus blocker stopped it from being active or something.

Yes, this. I don't go full throttle lower than 2k. I would be interested in trying this as well.

Has anyone noticed a change in throttle response when the drive train isn't loaded? Example revving in neutral, or to rev match a gear. I was expecting a change, but I assume the pcm can only do so much.

In the same boat as you @CaptainVoodoo but my guess is they'll be shipped out end of this week or early next week.
