With the anti-seize in the bottom of the hole, it basically hydro-locks when you screw it down. You need to loosen and tighten it a few times to get it fully seated on your shims. Even then the shims do compress a bit, so it will need fine tuning.

I put a small rubber piece in mine and it was enough spacer to lock it pretty tight. I’m sure I wasn’t suppose to do that, but I live dangerously.

@7r41lbr34k3r How much would all stainless steel exterior V2 with a delrin hybrid core weigh?

I will have to double check when I get back home, but 99% sure it is 700. 765g with a stainless collar upgrade.

Finally got mine installed last night. Super easy install. This thing is great. Feels so much better than the stock and i like the weight. If you are considering this, do it. Looks 100x better also. Thanks again @7r41lbr34k3r for the creation.

Okay, so a more thorough answer is anywhere from 550 to 660g. I have manipulated the interior features several different ways to hit weight targets in the past, and that would be the range when considering what I have done so far.

Awesome. What's your opinion on the ideal weight for the 5MT? I'm currently using the feather-weight stock shift knob. Pretty sure that thing is responsible for most of the vague, gritty gear engagement.

I'm going to be getting a Core/Hurst short sifter. Have you done any Hurst threading in a hybrid core?

Yep, (see here) I do not charge anything extra for the Hurst threads. 3/8"-16 is common in my world, so I have a ton of tooling for it already.

I think we are going to all have to work together to find an ideal weight for that setup, way too many variables at play here so we're just going to have to figure that out organically. Knob weight preference is quite subjective to begin with, but I have settled into the 300-400g range.

just to open the dialog over here, already been speaking with Rick about it behind the scenes...

i have the Core on my 6sp, just installed and still breaking in. my last knob was a super heavy 733g on stock + URD SS. the Core doesn't need (or like, IMO) this kind of weight. after all, i installed it to provide a super direct mechanical feel. i don't want it dampened and as the Core is breaking in it doesn't need heavy assistance. just good aim.

i am heading towards all Delrin (custom design, not a V1 or V2) simply to keep the weight, and hot/cold, in check. currently on a stopgap knob solution, 226g, and i would say the Core likes maybe 200-400g range. the Core keeps the notchiness and requires good aim, but does not require force at all. it's really great, but i think too heavy a knob and you miss some of the clarity the Core provides. but I'm a total nut for that stuff, so YMMV. just keep in mind that when you get the Core it will be a seriously tight MFkr for the first 2-4 weeks.

    All delrin! FTW!

It is funny, but that is how I feel with the stock shifter. The feelz with a 162g ball is just right, to me.

Kinda want a core for my 4 banger, but it worries me that the end result would be that my truck will feel slower. Glad they do not have any right now, no temptation to be had.

i haven't driven one of the 4cyl trucks, but getting used to the Core the last couple weeks has definitely brought me into more 'deliberate' driving territory. i'm not slower but the deliberate feeling cleans it up and mellows the whole experience for me. the only thing missing right now is the knob. :D

Back from vaca and all caught up to those who PM'ed/paid me while I was away.

Sold out of V2's, and I will be working on V1's ... progress pics for those will begin on Monday 9pm (my time).

Also need to contact a few about customs, had no responses from the first 2 on my queue, so that seems to be opening up if anybody wants to secure a SS or Ti order.
