    Hey all,

First thread post so if I am posting in the wrong area feel free to yell at me.
Quick history: Bought the truck a year ago (2018 TRD Sport) almost to the date. I have had a noise coming from my passenger right tweeter on the dash since I got the truck. The dealership has insisted they can't find it or it's nothing. They even went as far as doing the A pillar fix (which actually fixed that little noise) before fixing the speaker!
The noise happens if I am playing music or the radio is off. Speaker doesn't sound like it is blown or anything like that. Tried unplugging my radar detector, made sure my glove box empty, nothing rattling, I am fairly confident it is the speaker. Brought it in last week for my 30K mile tune up and they won't take the dash off to look at the speaker (have an extended warranty until 125K since I new my warranty wouldn't last long). I drive 150 miles a day for my commute so I am losing it with this annoying noise. I also got charged $300 to replace two air filters and to be told maybe its my sunglasses rattling in the sunglass holder.... So *beep* the dealership unless the part is bad and covered under the warranty I am not giving them another dime to work on my truck.

Needless to say I'm ready to try and fix it myself after that crazy charge. Any ideas on what would cause a static sound through one speak? The wiring going to the tweeter is a harness so I am not really sure where to look to try and fix it. If it was like an old subwoofer with two wires in and out I would know what to do. Any tips, tricks, and advise I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks all

Check the sensor on the right corner of the dash. There’s a thread on it somewhere here.

Pull the dash off and wrap some tape or glue the light sensor so it doesn’t move around and cause that noise

Thanks I will recheck both of these. I really think it's the speakers as it is really loud. More then the A pillar ever was. I can hear it with the volume on at 30. Keep you all posted as I am hoping to open up the speaker and pillar on Sunday when I can spend some time in it.

Yes, there is a long thread on this. My 18 sport does it also, only below about 65 degrees. So, it's that time of year again.
I think it is either the passenger tweeter (going to replace mine with subarus) or the speaker cover. Some have had success putting velcro on the cover tabs. I believe the new speaker covers come with padding on the tabs, so that may be an option also.
Let us know what you figure out.

If you got the sport did you get the tech package with the JBL's? Without knowing the model, JBL's used to be better then Kickers. If I read correctly they are the makers of the subaru's. If I am going to replace I would rather do something like alpines or that level. My old car had alpines and they had nice clean sound. I guess the only way to tell if it is truly the speaker is unplug it and drive around for a bit. If it doesn't do it then you know what the problem is.

Subaru speakers- or at least remove yours and see if the noise stops.

Oh, and get your money back for those filters- plus find another service center, that one ripped you off!

Funny you say that because after I upgraded the tweeters I haven’t noticed the noise since then! I believe the noise was found to be from the a pillar though.

Before heading into work this morning I had the bright idea to pop off the trim piece that meets the A pillar and the dash. It is the piece that covers the AC vent and speaker on the dash.

Drove in and sure enough only a couple ticks/ static sounds. Cut it by 95%. I really wanted it to be the speaker hoping the trim issues were fixed... Going to order some felt tape/ cloth tape like you guys suggested and line anywhere that foam is in the pictures. Rip that garbage off. I squish it with my fingers and it is like stereo static. Might be the weirdest illusion I have ever heard in a car. So I apologize for the dumb post but I was dead set on it not being this issue again. I noticed the "new" foam they put is all around the perimeter of the dash and into the pillar so I am going to have to look up how to take all that trim off now that I am tackling this myself. Must remember to unplug the battery while doing the pillar. Prefer not to blow up the airbag which has always been a fear of mine lol

As a few of you posted, there are already a bunch of threads on where to tape so hopefully I can get this done in a few days and regain my sanity.

    Thanks again all.
