It's absolutely worth it - Cherry Springs is said to have the darkest night skies on the east coast. I took these shots last June but they don't do it justice. The Milky Way looks like it's 3D when you stare at it. The only limitation is cloud cover. :spy:

OK, so moving is not an option. What you're saying is that Toyota has the best engineering and that the road salt stuff is the equalizer and any truck in our region just won't make 20-30 years without extreme battles in constant preventative maintenance? My case in point against that is my dumb 26 year old Volvo 240. Yes, I was talking trucks... but let's broaden that to "vehicles". 13 years older than my truck, lived in the same region all its life as my truck... 1/10th or less of the rust issues AND I don't have an intense preventative maintenance M.O. to keep it going. I do jack for that car but replace parts as they break (rare). Engineers can design a truck with a frame that doesn't rust, I'd like to believe. Which make truck frames rust the least IN PENNSYLVANIA (or otherwise northeast rust belt) with otherwise the same level of preventative maintenance across the board? That's what I'm more asking. If only there was real, non-biased data to just simply show that.

We stopped at the Dark Sky park in central PA, it was pretty cool till the moonrise. It was a full moon that night and was like someone had flipped the lights on. Saw a couple bobcats on the drive down the mountain back to the B&B

Yep, it's best to go during a new moon or at least when the moon won't rise until 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning. That way you have plenty of time to keep your eyes adjusted for low light and just sit back and enjoy the show.
Last time I was there, a guy walked up to ask me a question about my telescope and he shined a white flashlight right into my eyes. I was pissed.

We were on trip back trackin route 6 west to east. I shoot lowlight so totally understand white light discipline, I use red or green, I really like the green when it’s dark the red on my Petzal head lamp even on low is a bit too hot.

The fun thing is every other make of car does the same damn thing, especially Jeeps. At least Toyota is taking care of their customers.
